With more awards than can possibly fit on a mantle, and millions of adoring fans across the globe, country music sensation Lady Antebellum has accomplished a lot in a very short time.

Fresh on the heels of a successful re-release of their appropriately-named, Gold-certified album “Golden,” Lady Antebellum will be making a stop on Feb. 21, at the Patriot Center in Fairfax as part of their Take Me Downtown Tour, which kicked off in early January.

Lady Antebellum

When: 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21

Where: Patriot Center, 4400 University Dr., Fairfax

Tickets: $59.50 plus $10.10 fee

For information: 703-993-3000; patriotcenter.com

Dave Haywood, background singer and musical jack-of-all-trades for the trio, said the tour has been going really well and the band was a bit surprised to see so many fans come out to support them with all the bad, winter weather that’s been out there.

“I’m telling you, these crowds have been amazing,” Haywood said. “You would think in the dead of winter no one would show up for these things, but man, we’ve had packed houses and people have really been on their feet and having a lot of fun.”

In less than 10 years, Haywood, along with bandmates Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley, has taken Lady Antebellum to the upper echelon of country music. The band has close to 50 awards, including seven Grammy Awards and a slew of American Music Awards and Country Music Awards.

Even more impressive is the fact that, with the exception of their most recent album, their three previous studio albums have all been certified platinum.

Haywood said the band has been completely floored by the level of success they’ve had so far.

“In all honesty, for us, after we played the Grand Ole Opry, we all looked at each other and said, ‘OK, we’re fine. We got to play the Opry, this is a huge moment for us,’” Haywood said. “That was after our first single came out. Ever since then, it has absolutely blown us away by what our music’s done. We write this music, so it’s closer to your heart when you sit on a couch and create it and watch it go from a little tiny idea to … something that gets played in countries around the world that I had to look up on a map!”

In May 2013, “Golden,” was released. Six months later, the album was re-released as a deluxe album with new songs and acoustic versions of previous songs.

The idea to put out a deluxe edition, according to Haywood, stemmed a lot from the tour they’re currently on.

“Going into the tour, we really wanted to find a great song that was a great up-tempo song,” Haywood said. “We had heard ‘Compass’ over the break – we took the break obviously so Hillary could have her baby ... and we were like, ‘Hey, we know you just had a baby, but what would you think about going back into the studio to work on some new stuff?’ We thought we really needed just one more big, fun song to kick off the show or to have at the end of the show.

“That was all part of that relaunch.”

Haywood said he has a special place in his heart for touring. While playing for fans – new and old – it’s important for Lady Antebellum to make sure everyone has a good time while they’re at the show.

“I feel like, with touring, you always get to build on what you’ve done in the past,” Haywood said. “That’s one of the fun things about touring – you’re never starting from square one, we’re always learning from what we did on the last tour and what we learned from the last one was, ‘Hey, let’s keep it fun. Instead of this one moment where we could do another ballad, let’s just throw in another fun one or do a cool cover and really keep people on their feet.”

Country sensation Lady Antebellum, from left, Dave Haywood, Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley, will be performing at the Patriot Center on Feb. 21.

Have at her. The hungry man will dive into anything. The well-fed man will exhibit tastes that are more refined.

Apparently, you have experience only with white-trash nascar loving confederate
flag wearing hobo bitches. I'd advise you to aim higher, but I'm sure it wqouldn't actually do you any good.
