Metro shuts down; Can hardly tell.

If it wasn't for the fact that it's plastered all over the news, you would never know the Metro is shutdown. Maybe 10 minutes longer Upperville -> D.C.... well within the daily margin of error.

Does anyone even use Metro?

You would if you knew how to use Google maps or Sigalert. You would if you understood how many people altered their departure times. Basically, you would if you were at all thoughtful.

What does Google Maps or Siglalert have to do with the fact that Metro is woefully underutilized and that this shutdown and its effect are highly overstated?

Hey dummy -- traffic is already horrible today. That's what Google Maps has to do with it.

Must suck to be out on the roads! All these metro-taking losers are really getting the shaft, as usual. :-)

It's funny.... Fox 5 is running all around begging to find fallout with no luck so far.

Metro users are on leave or working from home today. The option of driving into the city and trying to park is so incredibly stupid that none of them will be doing that for one crummy day. Metro is meanwhile the economic backbone of the region. Our idiot local governments have managed to deny it adequate or stable funding, and it still outperforms other urban transit systems.

That must be why traffic is significantly worse than normal today despite non-metro feds also having the option to telework.

Metro users have been shown time and time again to be less intelligent than non-metro users. So the idea that they wouldn't do something simply because it's stupid is.....pretty stupid. :-)

Many people buy houses inside the beltway so they can use Metro. Screwed today.

Nobody takes Metro any more because it's too crowded.

Well then, it's not crowded anymore because nobody is taking it.

Occupational hazard for chronic stupid shits. You would be well used to it by now if your memory were functional beyond a range of 4 or 5 minutes.

Aw, sorry butthurt metro rider! But you clearly proved that metro riders are stupid when you said:

The option of driving into the city and trying to park is so incredibly stupid that none of them will be doing that

Today's worse-than-normal traffic proves that they did indeed do just that.

Thanks for the help! :-)

North Arlington to Penn Quarter area in less than 20 minutes at 9 am. It was far less congested than normal. GW Parkway and TR Bridge were moving at or above speed the whole way.

Did anyone get a screen grab of Google maps earlier? It looked brutal. So happy to tele-work today. Hope they keep the thing closed for the rest of the week.
