I thought she was a wallflower, but has anyone been watching her Facebook page? She has been bitchslapping Jeff McKay all around. Just saw it after reading the new Post article on the Board.

I'm not sure about her vote on taxes, but liking this chick more and more. McKay wants to be the new Connolly and its great to see someone stand up to him.

The problem that Kathy Smith can't get past is that she still thinks the School Board deserves respect. She refuses to recognize that the School Board has to earn respect, and what little they had was lost when they refused to consider writing a budget, and then tried to bully the people of Fairfax and the Board of Supervisors into accepting unrealistic tax increases.

Seems like Smith and Stork feel like the idiots they are for voting no on a 5-cent increase, when the board then passed a 4-cent increase as recommended by county staff.

They could not get the votes for 6, so they voted against 5, and got 4 as a consolation.

Better luck next year.

Smith's problem is that she did not have a Chair telling her how to vote so she screwed the pooch by not voting for the 5 cent increase. In any event, she was stupid as a School Board Member, will be stupid as a Supervisor and will be stupid in any role that she plays as a public servant. She compounds her problems by being loud and vocal about parliamentary procedures that she obviously knows nothing.

After the vote, after they moved on to other business, Kathy Smith wanted a "do over." She wanted to change her vote on the 5-cent proposal.

Apparently the first time anyone has asked for a do-over at a Board of Supervisors meeting.

So she got to fail AGAIN.

Fool.

If you watch the video of the meeting there was nothing confusing about the vote. The Chair explained that a failure of the 5 cent increase would result in a passage of the 4 cent. The only thing that was confusing is how incredibly stupid this woman is and what she was thinking.

For those of us who fought her for years on the School Board, all I can say is, Karma is a bitch Kathy. Oh - and FU too. You got your just desserts on this vote and so did FCPS.

Here are the facts:

Both Kathy Smith and Dan Storck voted AGAINST a 5 cent tax increase that would have provided an additional $23 million to FCPS (if the final budget passes). The vote was 5-5 so the 5 cent increase failed. If EITHER of them had one ounce of common sense they would have voted for the 5 cent tax increase, and it would have passed 6-4 or 7-3.

Afterwards, Kathy Smith publicly said basically 'I thought the 4 cent increase motion would fail, and then we could make new motions for all kinds of other tax rates like 4.5 cents or 5.5 cents.'

What kind of idiot who obviously wants to supply too much additional money to the schools budget would VOTE DOWN a 5 cent tax increase, and later decide to SUPPORT a 4.5 tax increase?

Kathy Smith needs to publicly apologize to the Board of Supervisors for making a rookie mistake, and to ALL FCPS students and teachers and Supt. Garza and the School Board, for voting AGAINST $23M in tax funding for FCPS. Until she does that, she has no integrity. Same for Dan Storck.

I watched the video and the Chair (Bulova) did make it very clear that if the 5 cent increased failed, then the vote would be for a 4 cent increase. That was the only motion on the table. There was nothing confusing about this.

Kathy Smith DID make a ROOKIE mistake and her touting 15 years of service is asinine.

The Board has not had a reconsideration vote since the 1960's. There are no do-overs.

What a mistake it is that the Sully District is stuck with her! Her actions have negatively affected not only Sully but all of Fairfax County to the tune of $23 million dollars!

Everyone should email the entire Board and express their displeasure with Kathy Smith and Storck!

Not really. A 6 cent increase in the tax rate is a 5.5% increase in real estate taxes, assuming that the tax assessment remains flat. At a time when most professional workers in the county are getting average pay increases of 2 percent or less, a 5.5% increase in taxes is reprehensible. This tax and spend Board of Supervisors under Sharon Boliva needs a reality check. Like the taxpayers of Fairfax County already do, this Board of Idiots needs to learn to live within its means. A 5.5% tax increase when the rate of inflation is less than half that is completely incompetent and irresponsible, just like the majority of those ass clown Board members are.

The irony is that the SCHOOL BOARD is also stuck with Kathy Smith. They probably thought having 2 former school board members as supervisors would make the money fall out of the sky for all sorts of ridiculous things. As it stands, they are now in the hole.

Kathy Smith better explain herself tonight! I cannot believe her childish temper tantrum when she did not vote for the 5 cent increase.

Where is the video that is being referenced? Is there any good source for how the 4 cents came to be? I get that 5 and 6 cents were voted down, but what was the deal with 4 cents? Was 4 voted on or was it an automatic? I kept seeing mentions of 3 cents in February but now it seems the only choices were only 4, 5, or 6 cents.. if some kind of alternate negotiated amount like 4.5 or 5.5 cents wasn't agreed on.

I'm impressed at the incompetence that would vote Yes to 6 cents but then vote no to 5 cents because they didn't get their way and understand basic things like how things work in the real world. Good to know these people are deciding unimportant things like how much taxes we all pay and how the county is run.

Idiots wanted to help the school but just cost them 20% of a potential increase. Wanted 6 cents wouldnt settle for (voted against 5 cents) got 4 cents. You just cost the schools and the kids a lot of money being childish.

The bottom line is that the school board is an arrogant, partisan body that has stated in the past that they know what is best for our kids regardless if it is contrary to the parents wishes. They are now taking that same attitude to the Board of Supervisors and has effectively declared war against their colleagues on the Board in an effort to further their cause.
