Police have created a memorial fund for the Prince William County officer who was fatally shot on her first day on the job.
The Prince William County Police Association has created the fund for the family of Officer Ashley Guindon. The association will collect all donations and send them directly to Guindon's mother.
If possible, checks should be made out to "PWCPA in memory of OFC Ashley Guindon," authorities said.

Anyone who wishes to donate can leave their donation at any county police station or mail it directly to the police association at: Prince William County Police Association, Officer Guindon Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 1845, Manassas, VA 20108.
Police are warning people not to donate to GoFundMe pages that purport to be raising money for Guindon's family. Police determined that at least one fraudulent page was set up in the officer's name.

The Prince William County PD is feeling the pains of guilt for sending an ill prepared rookie officer into a potentially dangerous situation. Hence the huge send off.

before her i beleive the only time Fairfax County cops in prince william area ever saw death or serious injury due to intended harmful action was a crazy drug addict. they'd been on his case trying to set him up for prison life for casual drug use: he flipped out and and decided to take the fight to them, attacked the police station, shot 2 cops as they were leaving the station at unawares.

all other police deaths (serious injuries?) were not in active duty (ie, traffic related)

(last time i checked that was around 2008, i have no idea what has happened to police in the bull o va obama.gov tenure)

These officers made the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of their duty to the citizens of Fairfax County. They shall always be remembered and held with honor and esteem by the Fairfax County Police Department.

Allegedly the suspect, a military serviceman, 'murdered his wife and then ambushed the officers with a rifle as they approached the scene.

He already successfully killed his wife, so why was he shooting at officers? A military man shooting at his own country's soldiers?

This man was going out with a bang. He had everything - the shooting was racial - take out as many whites before he goes down.
