Do FFX CO salary reports include OT?

Hey guys,

Been seeing a lot of the salaries for county employees posted.

Do those numbers include overtime? Or are those base salaries before adjustments?

Just curious about the fire department. I always hear about them working overtime but the numbers seem pretty low for that.

Admittedly I don't know a whole lot about the teacher pay system, but why would someone who is salaried get overtime?

I doubt they get it. They are just assigned an impossible workload for the number of hours they are given to do it, and have to suck it up.

Teachers do not get paid OT as they are SALARIED. Duh. No salaried person I know gets OT. In addition to planning, grading, attending required meetings and training, and corresponding with parents, some of us do college recommendations, sponsor clubs for free, and attend weekend events with these club kids, again for free. I'd welcome the opportunity to be paid per hour because much of the work I do is on my own time. Imagine mom and dad paying for their kid's college recommendation letters and references.

And don't forget the extra time after school to work with a kid who isn't doing well. You'd get paid for that too.

So I figured out my annual pay if I were paid by the hour instead of a salary. I was making $50/hr in my corporate job with one master's degree, and now I have 2 master's degrees and am almost done with a third. Nevertheless, let's leave it at $50 and I'll even forget that this an old rate and I'd probably be making $60 by now.

Take $50 x 9 hour day (I am at school from 7-4) and forget anything I do on the weekends or in the evenings. I want to be conservative here. So that's $450/day x 5 days a week x 36 weeks = $81K. I currently make $58K. So please, yes, pay me by the hour! Even with not getting paid for snow days, I'd still come out ahead.

Oh, and don't forget that if I'm hourly, you've got to pay overtime, and that's at time and a half if I'm not mistaken. Oh please, please - pay me by the hour.

FCPS tradesmen like plumbers and electricians do get paid overtime and some of them help out on snow removal. Most of them are paid much more than teachers but they are 12 month employees while teachers are 10 month employees.

I believe the OP was inquiring about the Fairfax County employee salaries and not for the FCPS. While technically still "county" the FCPS is a completely different entity.

Read my post again and my later posts. I don't want overtime. I want you to pay me by the hour. You'd actually have to pay me MORE than I make now.
