The "Mess" started years ago. They are so fucked up I doubt they even notice the back up of mail.

Had an Amazon package that showed up at Chantilly PO today (at least their back office is working), but it did not go out on delivery today, but tracking indicates it will go out for delivery Tue 1/26 (we shall see).

I did shovel out the mailbox. I have upheld my end of the deal.

According to usps.com, all operations have been suspended in VA. No further update as of this writing. Went to the Chantilly Post Office yesterday and saw the entire building still covered by snow and no sign of snow removal starting any time soon. Things may look different now, though. Someone local to the site please update.

As a retired rural carrier, I have to say the USPS is now full of pussies who probably won't be delivering mail this week at all. I went to my local post office this morning and picked up four days worth of mail and they were all sitting around drinking coffee and reading the customers' magazines.

Who cares. Nobody gets anything worthwhile in the mail anymore.

Was at the Oakton PO this morning. Was told delivery service was starting. Told them we had not seen a plow yet and I doubted this would happen in our neighborhood. Was able to get my mail at the counter.

For letters and such that is true, but not for actual goods

I got mail today, letters and packages. The USPS office in Falls Church was open for business. The post office people are working harder than than the cretinous posters on fairfaxunderground.com.

The whiners will just whine while the workers work. Thank you, USPS...

Being a mailman is a tough job, especially dealing with all this snow.

Received one item of mail today in my mailbox at the street, but was expecting another item sent with delivery confirmation that I didn't get. The USPS tracking site says the item went out for delivery but "receptacle blocked" and "notice left." The area around the mailbox is clear of snow and one piece of mail was left so it's obviously not "blocked." Of course, there was no notice actually left about any issue reaching the mailbox. What is up with this?

What's really cool about the valpak & money mailer is I can now deposit them into my bank account online!

Mail not resumed at my house despite well-plowed street and no snow in front of my mailbox at the street. What's up with this?

Exact same situation at my place. I am beyond pissed. Bad enough not to get my mail and packages but for them to baldfaced lie about leaving a notice (nevermind whether my walkway & mailbox are cleared - they are & have been since Monday) is infuriating.

My lazy mailman won't bring heavy packages to the door on a good day though. He'll mark them "undeliverable as addressed" and try to make me come to the PO to pick them up. I have to request redelivery every damned time. Once or twice I've missed one of these "undeliverable" packages and had it show up the next day without any effort on my part. How is the exact same parcel undeliverable on Monday but makes it here fine on Tuesday?

No wonder USPS is hemorrhaging money!

I could understand if they just said service is delayed due to complications caused by the severe weather. The delay wouldn't be the issue for me. But it's BS to claim the box is blocked and that they left some sort of notice.

Not in this era of liability lawsuits. On a separate similar topic, imagine how many claims the Post Office has to process because of dog bites.

Good thing they don't sue for little-girl libel or defamation. This thread would be fertile hunting grounds for them. USPS, FCPS, DMV, Metro -- all things that the knee-jerk tiny-minds just love to complain about. You're all just a stupid waste of time, by the way.

The lack of mail doesn't bother me as much as the inadequate reporting. As others have pointed out, my street is clear and my mailbox is completely accessible. I'm assuming the PO is just working through a terrible backlog and they'll deliver as soon as possible. But I think they need to come up with another status for situations like this - one that doesn't make it sound like the mailbox-owner has done something wrong. It is misleading.

Agree with this. The delay is understandable, but the USPS shouldn't post an erroneous explanation online for why a tracked package hasn't been delivered, especially one that directs the customer to go pick the package up at the PO when it's not there because it's actually sitting in the truck not being delivered because the carrier just didn't have time to deliver it. This really does need to be fixed.

Most of Europe has excellent service.

USPS has too many negroes "working" for it. That's the problem.

Same in 22182. tracking states "attempted delivery mailbox blocked" But our road, mailbox , driveway and walkway are all clear and dry. Plus these were packages that would not be put in mailbox anyway.

My question is why lie? We were home and know the mailman was not even on our street at all today.

UPS is delivering just fine.

Funny- every post office I have been to has been staffed by Asians or Whites.

Why the black people obsession anyways? Go watch some ebony porn and settle down.
