Traffic Crashes=25
A Virginia trooper struck in Northern Virginia was transported as a precautionary measure to Fairfax Inova Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. At 6:23 p.m., Virginia State Police Trooper C.D. McGowan responded to a two-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of I-495 near Route 50 in Fairfax County. There were no injuries. As Trooper McGowan was outside his vehicle at the crash scene at approximately 6:44 p.m., a van traveling north on I-495 swerved to the right to avoid another car merging into the same travel lane. When the van swerved, it struck the trooper.
