Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
For the general population now would be a good time to go into full panic mode. This storm could dump a heavy blanket of snow up to 3 ft somewhere along the mid Atlantic.
For the more sane, remember last year when they predicted a storm that would dump 18+ inches of snow and we saw 3-5 inches?

I do not know if i believe it or not, but someone i refer to when it comes to winter weather says this one could be for the record books, his forcast currently sits at 24 to 34 inches total.
more believable numbers i've heard it 8 to 12 inches. We will see as it gets closers. It is another one of those storms where i depends on the track. a bit further south we get nothing, a bit further north we get mostly rain etc.

have to update my statement above as the place i got the 8 to 12 number is now simply stating 2 to 3 feet.
It looks like the sum of the expected accumulations times the relative probabilities yields about 9.8 inches expected, using 1 in x 90 pct, 4 in x 75 pct, and so on.
