Only closing one in this area and it's in Baltimore. Most of the closings are overseas.

Walmart has gone way down hill!

They just built a huge Walmart over by the Chantilly convention center and the other Walmart in Chantilly is always packed. You can barely park with 500 feet.

Yes, what ever they are calling or were calling those buildings at that time. Those building got renamed too many times to keep up with. Now I guess half is Super Walmart.

It's called the "Chantilly Shopping Center" now.

"Just built"? Like, four years ago?

And what is this "other Walmart in Chantilly"? Just wondering...I can only find one. There are a couple in Fairfax.

Over 100 of the closings are the result of WalMart pulling the plug on it's WalMart Express experiment. These were tiny stores about the size of a dollar store. I don't think any of them were around here, I know I've never seen one.

I'll always be grateful to Wally for one thing. When I was a trucker, I spent many a night in a WalMart parking lot. In a lot of areas, truck stops are very crowded and fill up early. When your HOS clock runs out you HAVE to park the fucking thing somewhere, you can't just keep driving around looking for a place to park. But you always knew the closest Wally would have a space for you to crash.

Walmart is pulling out of Republican run areas, because they fail at everything

Isn't as far down hill as your info.

269 total - 154 in US and 115 Brazil/Latin America
That's only 2% of their stores
And they plan to open 135 stores in US and 250 international next year.

They are mostly closing test/pilot stores. They'll be fine.

And I don't even like Walmart.

Wow. When I saw "2%" I thought, "That can't be right", but it is: Wikipedia says they have over 11,000 stores. There are only 36,000 McDonalds, for gossakes! Amazing.

Yeah, with numbers like that, it's a correction, not a crisis.

Maybe their is more to this than many here even know. Stan Kroenke who married into the Walmart family and who is moving to the NFL St.Louis Rams back to L.A. may be pulling the plug on these stores to put his investments solely into the building of the new billion dollar stadium located in Los Angeles.

He is also a huge real estate mogul and no dummy on where he see the future of his business dealings. Kroenke married the daughter of the Walmart founder Sam Walton.
Very well could be the reason.

Wal-Mart said last week that it would halt plans to open stores in D.C. because of a minimum-wage hike that would mandate a minimum hourly pay of $12.50.

The shoplifting losses in the D.C. stores must be outrageous.

And one of the DC councilwomen is playing the race card - saying it's a discriminatory action. LOL. Niggers...always about race and being held down by the man.
