EMP attack, what would it be like around here?
Posted by: survivor ()

What do you think it would be like around here after an EMP attack? Would there be a flood of people walking out of the city? Would there be people just wandering around your property looking for food etc? I have a supply of food but I don't know how secure it would be. Would people actually try getting into your house?

Not likely, though it's best to be prepared. I recommend a gun for each person living under the roof who is capable of using it properly. Ideally you should have an armed resident posted near each entrance to your home. We're set-up this way at my home and keep roughly 700 rounds of ammo (9mm and .45) on hand at all times. However we do not keep stockpiles of food. Please post your address so that if anything happens, I'll know where to do a recon mission with one of my weapons so I can come take your food.

I guess you just have to be able to hunker down until all those people starve to death. Just need enough food, water for several months. I was reading this book, One Second Later, and they say like 95% of NYC would die.

Sorry, given the size and population of NoVA, plus it's proximity to Washington DC, anyone who doesn't make an almost immediate decision to get the heck out - and has prepared for the possibility of doing so - is probably going to die.

There just isn't going to be enough food, and replacement doesn't exist/won't arrive quickly enough, for even a small fraction of the population given that you can expect most of the Mid-Atlantic all the way up to NYC and down to the Outer Banks, to be impacted.

Now granted, most of DC will quickly move into Maryland. And the bridges across the Potomac present significant bottlenecks esp if someone is smart enough to drop them with explosives (simply barracading them and putting police and National Guard on them won't be enough).

If you want an example of what the area will quickly devolve into, just watch "The Purge." That's just the first phase. The Purge grossly understates the environment that would be in place once people started running out of food and experiencing hunger.

Law-abiding citizens who may even be prepped with firearms, ammunition, food/water and fuel, who may even band together with similarly prepped neighbors, will still be overwhelmed. Reinforced "safe-rooms" in houses (of those who actually invest in them) aren't really designed to withstand long-term sieges. People MIGHT survive longer if they've managed to build a secret bunker under their house that is exceptionally well-concealed.

Eventually, tho, those who decide to stay get to make a decision: come out early and face angry violent mobs (where they might be allowed to choose their own lamp-post to hang from), or come out later and face angry, violent HUNGRY mobs (who'll think that your liver, and every other ounce of meat on your body) tastes damn good with fava beans and a nice Chianti ...

Only 30 million Americans would survive, 90% will die within the first year.

The only way you'll see them coming is if you're in their path as they make their way to Best Buy to loot the joint for a new large screen TV.

Just keep some basketballs handy. If a group of them head towards you, throw one.

After an EMP attack, it would be total chaos with black savages freely raping, robbing, and killing. In other words, it'd be business as usual.

Ted Cruz mentioned last night the possibility of N. Korea sending a satellite over that could detonate a nuke on command.

Forget the nuke. I was reading up on EMP and the scenario walked through what would happen if an attack were generated from an ICBM landing in the area of Omaha, NE. An EMP might be more devastating than a nuke attack. Depends on the size of the nuke, etc.

This will not turn out well if it happens - via either method.

Why do you think people would want to go across the river to Maryland, a socialist state? Better go to the coast down the northern neck, or west to the mountains if you have any survival skills.

Of all the things worth worrying about, EMP ranks really, really low. Below nuclear war, hurricanes, melting of the permafrost, drought and forest fire, earthquake, getting struck by lightning...

I read that as DC residents would be the ones going into MD, so it would be no bridge crossing for VA people.
