Construction at Kamp Washington Intersection Starts on Jan. 11
The public is invited to an information meeting on the Kamp Washington Intersection project on Jan. 6, 2016.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA: The Kamp Washington Intersection (Routes 236/Main Street, Route 29/Lee Highway and Route 50/Fairfax Boulevard) construction improvements in the City of Fairfax are scheduled to begin on January 11, 2016.
The public is invited to an information meeting on the project on Jan. 6 at 1 p.m. at the City Hall Annex, located at 10455 Armstrong Street, Fairfax.
Conducted mainly at night and scheduled to continue through Spring 2017, the Kamp Washington Intersection is being improved to increase capacity for vehicular and pedestrian traffic, including:
-Improved horizontal alignment along Fairfax Boulevard/Main Street through the main intersection
-Lengthened turn lanes, and extended through lanes on Main Street from Chestnut Street to Hallman Street
-Installation of new traffic signals at Kamp Washington Intersection, Chestnut Street, Maple Street and CVS Driveway
-Improved pedestrian mobility with new crosswalks, curb ramps, sidewalks, and pedestrian signalization
Additional third lane on Lee Highway from Kamp Washington to Shell Station
Estimated cost is $11.5 million, the projects will be funded with federal, state and regional funds. The City of Fairfax is contributing $50,000.
