I would think cold conditions would favor the Eagles. There is also home field advantage.

The Redskins also have a tough time winning games on the road.

As for the rain, the Redskins can fumble balls on Sunny days as well as rainy.

The fact that it's an important game also favors the Iggles because the Redskins suck under pressure.

The turning point was Griffin's concussion. If not for that Griffin would have started the season at QB. He likely would have played the way he did in 2013-14 and the team would have gotten off to an even worse start. Cousins wouldn't have come in until the fourth or fifth game and, based on his 2015 performance, wouldn't have gotten in gear until after mid-season. As a result the team probably would be 5-10 now instead of 8-7.

The concussion also benefitted Griffin. He's had a season to get his head together, literally and figuratively. Now he'll leave here a better adjusted person and in a better position to make a fresh start. He may never reach the level of 2012 again but he ought to be able to stay in the league a few more years.

Mr. Kilton, I don't disagree that local sports coverage can go over, optimistic whenever something is going well for a DC franchise, and I'm not an over sensitive fan either, just seems to me that announcers are just rooting for a typical skins implosion more than providing neutral commentary on the teams. Maybe I have just a bit of sand in my cooch after the hard years the skins have had... Either way is nice to be able to be proud of our home team doing pretty well and fighting hard. And, all three DC teams won last night, that's cool!

There are two factors at play here. The first is that this area has been such a pathetic sports city for so long, that any glimmer of success from a local team generates an inordinate amount of excitement. This in of itself is understandable, to an extent.

But the second and more important factor is that people around here, for whatever reason, never mature beyond 14 years of age when it comes to sports. They never outgrow the knee-jerk tendency to trash talk any team playing worse than theirs is, in that classic "YEAH MAN YOU SUCK HOW YOU LIKE THEM APPLES HUH?" way like little kids do. Nor do they have the ability to see the big picture, which leads to seemingly endless giddiness after every individual victory.

Any other sports town would be quietly pleased with this kind of fluke playoff appearance, hoping beyond hope that Cousins can play well for a change in 2 weeks against a good team (which hasn't happened yet this season). But here in DC, big picture perspective isn't a specialty. :-)
