Space for Rent Next to Lamb Center
Posted by: Inevitable ()

Yesterday, I drove by and noted that the 7-11 adjacent the lamb center was closed and the place available for rent. I'm not surprised. I'm sure the loitering of unsavory/desperate/down and out folks drove many potential customers to find a different 7-11 down the road. I wonder who has the guts or stupidity to move next door....other than a liquor store.

No offense to those at the Lamb Center....most are likely good folks in a bad situation, but I've seen some scary eccentrics roaming around there. And the stereotype/reality of some makes it difficult for any business to operate there.

They built a new 7-11 next to the Shell station on the corner.

So your astute powers of observation can spot a closed 7-11, TLC next door, scary eccentrics roaming the area, etc. - but failed to see a brand new 7-11 1 block away facing Fairfax Blvd?

You're stupid. As others have said already, there's a 7-11 in a new building 100 ft away.

Let's hope that all the Lamb Center Riff-Raff is just as stupid as you and don't find it.

What was the point of the move on 711s part? They are what, five feet further from TLC? And the location is hard to get to via the circle any how. It just doesn't make sense as even without the TLC controversy if that's the right term, for the move.

Adjacent the Lamb Center is far worse than being 100 feet away. Duh. You, my friend, are a butt munch!

So you will be equally baffled, I assume, to hear that the 7-11 up by Outback Steakhouse (Fairfax Blvd. and Plantation Pkwy) is also moving about 100 feet to a new location currently under construction. The mysteries of the universe are everywhere, eh?

100 ft away is a little easier to keep the bums from hanging out front than right next door. Bums are attracted to 7-11s like a moth to a flame. They have two things the deadbeats love, customers with loose change and single beer sales.

Come and meet your lovely neighbors, they include the toothless pimp, Barbie, and a whole host of other characters, who have several voices, write in languages that no one can understand, and love high quality wines such as Thunderbird.

The 7-11 stores move can be related to a few items which may be conducive:

1) The existing "foot print" of the store may not handle the new layouts that the 7-11 stores are seeking.

2) Older locations are just that - old. Utility costs are higher (A/C, heat, lights, etc.) Newer locations are more energy efficient.

3) Existing 7-11 stores that could not be relocated, have been internally revamped with a new look. Thin, white, plastic wall-board sheets have been installed over the walls. New shelving has been installed for better product arrangement. New coffee stations with much better layouts have been installed to allow people to get their coffee, add the right ingredients and get out of there quick.

The environment angle is interesting. Wondering if perhaps there's a federal energy subsidy for that, with who's in place at the White House, and also when Congress was well, more enviornmentally interested. The new one is a lot better than the old shit hole, although you can tell they are making some transitions of products still. A better layout, easier to get shit=more profits as well.

What will become of the old one? Who knows? I'm thinking a small ethnic store will be there, but that's just a guess, and probably not even an educated one. Yet, I did drive by it last night, and its not being torn down, which I thought would be. There's a huge yellow lease sign now, so it shall be with great curiosity, if anyone has the balls to open up next to TLC, but it does have a good drop off from the Circle folks commuting.

Wonder if TLC can somehow convince the owner of the building to let them use it? Is there a way for the owner to use that arrangement as a tax write off?

Not a chance in hell of that happening. The city has had so many issues with the TLC that the council will not allow for that.

When I worked in Alexandria there was a for sale sign next to a townhome which backed to public housing. I went on the realtors website and it talked about close proximity to churches, stores and playgrounds. The picture of the place had been cropped so you could just see the home and not anythng around it.

The churches were the kind where people scream and yell and there is usually a family fight after the "service". The stores were Korean mom and pop behind bullet proof glass. The playgrounds were full of used needles and wine bottles.

In hindsight it would have been a good investment as the area turned around when they moved the public housing to another part of the city.

Extra parking for Litter. It will be ripped down, that structure and the pavement will be lowered and aligned.

How long, now, has the rental space been evacuated? Going on 3 years now?
The only reason all this is happening, IS because of 'policy' at The Lamb Center.

To understand more about this, everyone should read the original The Lamb Center thread. Always readily found on the first two or three pages of this forum.
Quite interesting how your donations and tax dollars are being spent. And how these supposed 'Holy' rollers are spending it.
