It's going to be workforce housing - Residences at Government Center. I had hoped they got half a brain cell and cancelled it but no. Supposed to start leasing end of next year.

The Massey building is a pile of shit. Old, leaking, and full of asbestos. Tear it down

Hey, rickies, the money metal Fairfax County government complex was supposed to be at least twice as large as it is now, but a financial crisis in the 1990s stopped its development. That's why Government Center Parkway and Post Forest Road were dead-end roads for so many years until the late 1990s early 2000s when Fairfax Corner and all those hurting apartments and awesome Wegmans were finally built.

In the 1980s and 1990s, everything between West Ox Road and Shirley Gate Road/Waples Mill Road was a distant fantasy to everyone. What you know now didn't exist before the late 1990s.

What they're doing now is finally relocating most of that hurting Fairfax County offices out of random shitholes all over Fairfax County into the Fairfax County Government Center complex.

It's twenty years later than they planned to do it.

Now they have a money metal house.

Borgata.

Hey donkey dicks, in case I wasn't clear, one of those hurting random shitholes is the 1960s-era dilapidated Massey Building eyesore which Fairfax has been wanting to demolish since the early 2000s and had already mostly moved out of by 1992, but more space is still needed at Gov't Center complex for the Police & Fire who have suffered enough in that lousy, obsolete building.

It's a show.

Really? More subsidized housing?? The county complains about increasing diversity in schools and overcrowding but strongly supports the development of low-income housing?? Eagle View ES is already overcrowded and it's not even 10 years old yet. The whole Ffx Corner/Fair Lakes/Ffx Center area is nice and clean with the population mostly being home to young white and asian families.

WHO TF WANTS MORE ILLEGALS AND NIGGERS !!!

FCPS IS RAPIDLY BECOMING WORSE

REMEMBER IN 1980 WHEN THIS COUNTY WAS 90% WHITE

Look at it from the perspective of liberals... It is the perfect opportunity for lower class non-whites to interact with well-to-do whites. I mean foot traffic from the new slums right into Fairfax Corner. This is a good thing. It is diversity. From the perspective of traditional America, Fairfax Corner is going to get shat on. This has been going on for decades. The cycle ends when white america no longer exists.

when is mexico building government centers for poor americans to live in and work from - who get government work ?

total bullshit

like the other article said, like people already accused democrats of : they are using the fairfax county virginia as a breeding ground of foreigners who are loyal to vote democrat

it always was illegal, and is still illegal, to prevent denizens from working and living - while giving people many who attack the USA room board and aid because they keep the scam from toppling over on itself

fairfax was a good hard working church going town in the 1980's

that does NOT mean there weren't scammers there were pleanty in fairfax and children were taught to not deal with scammers

but you could leave your car window open, keys in ignition, and not even get change stolen from the console, back then

even the scammers weren't a hard knock as these democrats

The lib politicians hate the idea of a safe, clean area. That's why they insist on bringing the criminal element in to ruin it.

wish I had heard much more from the county and washingtonpost about this.

While I don't object to the aparments being set aside soley for goverment employees, as some of the condos in the area are county owned for use for the fireman such as in Wescott Ridge, I don't like it being open to everyone.

Since I live in the area, I never saw the normal zoning/permiting signs that you see before this happens and I've lived in the area for close to 15 years.

Not looking forward to a decrease in housing values and changes in my kids schools. Time to move to loudon I guess.

Im so depressed about this, why couldn't we just leave the trees in, the Fair Oaks/Fairfax Corner/Fair Lakes area is extremely nice and well planned, Wegmans, the Mall, shops, movies, fine dining, all the town homes and condos in the area are really upscale and nice. Eagle View ES is consistently rated well, why must the county insist on putting in Section 8 housing in a nice area.

The county dislikes being majority white and wants to decimate white enclaves.

Ffx White areas:

Fairfax City
Oakton
Oak Hill
McLean
Oak Hill
Vienna
West Springfield
Woodson area
Mantua
Crosspointe/SoCo area
South Run/most of Burke
Fairfax Station
Single family Chantilly neighborhoods
Virginia Run

Illegal infested areas:

Central Springfield
Route 1 corridor
Alexandria
Falls Church (county area)
Downtown Herndon
London Towne
Brookfield
Glade drive
Lorton
Hybla Valley
Culmore
Franconia

The OP wasn't referring to the new public safety building dipshits. He said across from FFX corner and that trees were removed. The building at the gov center is not across from FFX corner and that site was a baseball field...no trees. In fact, the OP is referring to the activity along Monument, directly across from P.F. Changs and uncle julios, the wooded area that abuts the walking trails. Tons of clear cutting and E&S controls. Not sure what it is.

I'm no tree hugger, but that was county parkland and now its a private/public partnerhsip low income housing development.

It will be interesting if that effects goings on at government center itself with respect to crime.

The project is called residences at goverment center:

http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/rha/residences/residences_at_the_government_center-smsize033115.pdf

They're looking to provide housing for some county goverment employees and others that make no more than 60% of the median wage.

What are you saying? That it would be worth someone looking into whether the county broke any laws in building at this location or are you saying the future residents of said housing should be watched as they are likely to be criminals?

How can anyone believe that putting affordable housing across from a high-end shopping center is a good idea? They can't afford to live in the area, what makes you think they can shop in the area!!!!!

This will be a huge blow to the Government Center area......
