Anyone have any postive things to say about FCPS? I hated it I dropped out in 10th grade because I have very bad ADHD and they coulnd't help me out. all they did was wrire me up and give me detenetion. I was in specai ed classes but it seems that the teachers were not good at all. they didn't know how to teach and now I hate teachers because of fcps. does anyone have anything good to say about fcps? I know my friend Mohhomed who graduate is now working at a Mall Cop only earning 9 an hour and he also thinks Special ed teacher didn't teach us. He got a modified dimpolma because the dumb ass teacher couldn't help him pass the sol. does anyone have any postive and nice to say about fcps?
Did you go to school everyday? Did you do your homework? Did you go for extra help when you did not understand what was taught in class? Why did you get detentions?Getting an education is not a guarantee and will not happen without you doing your part. When we know things about ourselves, such as having ADHD, it is important that we don't make it an excuse but work at finding how to combat it. You can make mistakes, but you are not a failure until you start blaming others for those mistakes. I think that is you!!

Historically there have been a number of high cognitive ability students from stable two parent homes (mostly white and Asian) who have made the school system obtain a good reputation. Teachers have been mostly competent, which is all that is needed with high cognitive students. The demographics are now rapidly changing, which in turn will degrade the quality of the schools, no matter what odes to diversity are recited. FCPS is not just primarily concerned with the racial achievement gap, it is obsessively concerned, which will be for naught since no school system anywhere can close the gap given the vast differences in cognitive ability. Ah, the revenge of the Bell Curve, unless of course, a system cheats, as Atlanta did, which did not work out well. Don't kid yourselves the resources will go to the ever increasing number of low cognitive kids, because massive resources are needed to get them to perform even marginally on the kill and drill tests, leaving the high cognitive kids and their parents to fend for themselves. Mention to FCPS leaders that the focus should be on raising the bar for everyone rather than the achievement gap, and well, you will be looked at as if you were crazy.
Ever heard the phrase you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear? The problem is YOU. Quit blaming teachers for your stupidity. I have a retarded cousin who still got a high school diploma, loser.

Well, if this kid is not a troll, I think it can be assumed that he did not have the same level of support from his parents as a comfortable middle-class kid. It takes a huge amount of perseverance on the part of the parents to get and keep an IEP for your kid. If this kid is second generation Hispanic, his parents were probably too busy landscaping and cleaning to help him out, especially with a limited command of the language.
Having said that, there appear to have been discipline issues on the part of the OP. That's on him (for the most part). In any case, it doesn't do any good to point fingers or rue the past. Ultimately, we all have to make our own way.

Pretty sure that all sped kids get modified diplomas whether they're CAT A or CAT B.
Wait, let me guess, OP, maybe the teacher told your parents a whole lot of times that medicine would really help you, that you would do much better in school, that you would be able to concentrate on your work, that you would be much more successful, etc., and your parents told the teacher he or she didn't know anything and there was no way you needed to be medicated.
Sorry, but I've seen it about 9,000,000 times. Usually it's around high school when the parents finally do break down and try it, but poop canning K-8 doesn't exactly build a strong foundation and by high school the damage is done.
Oh, and the kids you sat next to, the ones who did want to learn, they REALLY loved your constant pencil tapping and humming and fidgeting and how the teacher always had to stop teaching to ask you to be quiet.
The very large bureaucracy that runs the Fairfax County Public Schools system does an excellent job of justifying the need for a very large bureaucracy to run the Fairfax County Public Schools system.

Totally not true. In fact, the overwhelming majority of CAT A kids who graduate receive a regular diploma.
