Where to Get Computer Books?

The Computer Literacy Bookstore in Tysons closed ages ago.

Borders is gone.

Micro Center's book department just keeps shrinking.

Barnes and Noble doesn't have much either.

Sure, you can order off Amazon, but what if you want to look at the book before you buy?

I would go to the Univeristy bookstore in College Park. I think it's called Maryland Book Annex or Exchange.

There's still the Reiter's Professional Books downtown.

The place in MD is kind of far.

Reiter's is also kind of far, and has short hours.

Anything in FFX, ARL, FC, open weekends with longer hours?

Thanks.

FFX libraries have been gutted. The "beta plan" called for destroying books to make room to convert the libraries into internet cafes. The "beta plan" is gone, but so are a lot of books.

The selections at most libraries are pretty sparse. All seem to have multiple copies of 50 Shades of Gray to say nothing of a lot of books about sports and transgender issues.

The only physical book you need is "How to get connected to the Internet"

You're welcome.

Microcenter has a very small section. Last time I really looked at the books there, they seemed outdated.

Most everyone I know orders from Amazon.

You may have to go to the District. Try Reiter's in Foggy Bottom.

The Pirate Bay. Search "e-books" or "books". Sometimes the torrent description will list its books or it's just pot luck. Have gotten a lot of good soft copies this way.

Borders has a pretty good selection, or you can go the mail order catalog route.

An online book might not be your best choice if you cannot get online.

This may come as a shock but there are times when a pre-computer solution might be superior, and not just with the Luddites.
