Kids these days... (Back-to-school thread)

Kids these days...

"The new Student Information System Parent Account is an online tool parents can use to access information about their child’s attendance, class schedule and performance, discipline incidents, and health information."

Remember when parents actually gave a shit?

I can assure you that my parents didn't need a fucking website to know whether or not I went to school. And if there were any "discipline incidents," my parents knew about it before I even got home from school. And what is the school nurse going to tell me about my child's health information that I don't already know?

Im so tired of these 'these days' notions. That is just old people believing times were better when they were kids. I went to a much small school system growing up - our school nurse lived on our block. Parenting was different back then but not better just different.

You're wrong. That's not just opinion either.

If someone has to tell you how and why it's better for a parent to be actively involved in a child's life, building a trusting relationship with them than it is for a parent to check the 'ol portal to learn about their child, you simply shouldn't breed.

Progress, ease and efficiency do not necessarily result in progress, ease and efficiency.

Obviously, yours didn't. They just raised another impudent little whiny asshole for the rest of us to put up with. Bad job there. Meanwhile, if the same technology had existed "back in the day", it would have been used in the same way.

Correct -- it's whatever is even worse than just opinion.

OP wasn't whining or showing a lack of respect. (S)he was right in pointing out that parents are less and less involved in their childrens lives with every generation.
