State police arrested a 17-year-old Washington boy late Sunday after a pursuit and crash in the Lorton area.
It started about 8:30 p.m. when a trooper attempted to stop a minivan traveling in excess of 90 mph on southbound I-95 near the Springfield exit.
The minivan driver kept going and a pursuit ensued, with the driver exiting at the Va. 123 exit.
“As it turned left onto Forest Greens Drive in Lorton, the driver bailed from the van,” state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said.
The van, which turned out to have been stolen in Alexandria, rolled off into the woods and struck a tree. The driver ran off on foot.
Fairfax police used its helicopter and police dogs to search for the driver, who was found and arrested, Geller said.
The 17-year-old driver was charged with reckless driving, driving without a license and possession of stolen property, Geller said.
