Fatal Crash in Lorton

Police responded to the report of a single vehicle crash in the 8300 block of Alban Road on Sunday, August 9 shortly before 11p.m. Detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that 29-year-old, Jose De Jesus Caballero of Lorton, was operating a 2007 Ford F 150 pickup truck southbound on Alban Road in the left lane when he drifted across the double-yellow line and continued off the road to the left. The truck struck a guardrail, rolled down an embankment and struck a tree which caused the roof to collapse. The roof collapse crushed the driver and pinned him inside the vehicle; he died at the scene. Speed does not appear to be a factor. The investigation continues to determine what might have caused and the crash and if alcohol was a factor.
