Bartenders at Kilroys let drunks drive
Posted by: Sloppy Drunk ()
Date: January 26, 2014 11:58AM

I couldn't believe what I saw. These bartenders don't know the laws or don't care. They kept serving about six people who clearly needed to be cut off and then let them drive. Isn't there a law about that? I mean this one guy was completely out of control. The woman and other people he left with were out of it-in no shape to drive. How does this place escape the attention of the local cops?

You sound like a fucking fascist piece of shit liberal. It is not a bartenders responsibility to babysit adults. Even though you liberal shits need to be told when to take a shit by the government, you should know when to do that yourself. Fuck you!

If springfield bars obeyed the overserving law 1/3 of the time it would be a vast improvement. it's a bunch of uneducated hookers and drug addicts sitting both at and behind the bar in these places, what the fuck do you want from them?

Um, oppress and enslave the population, class warfare, divide the citizens, nationalize healthcare, expansive government, disdain for religion. That's pretty much sums up fascism, which clearly is the guidebook for liberals. Hitler would be proud.

"Freedom" means to get drunk behind the wheel and kill whoever you want? That's why DUI laws should be cranked up as much as possible. Drunks at these bars don't give a shit about anyone but themselves so they need to put away as long as possible when they get busted.

They act before they think, which makes them stupid.

bartenders have the right to cut people off... and can be prosecuted if a drunk dies or kills someone... but it is hard to prove. when it is all said and done it is up to the patrons to police themselves.

like a typical person in NOVA... you need to stay out of people's shit.

Yeah those stupid conservatives. They wrote the constitution, freed the slaves, fought democrats for a decade to pass the civil rights law, passed the 19th amendment, only went to war when the US was attacked, want to limit government telling people how to live their lives, believe in liberty, ethics, morals and family values. Encourage prosperity and success. You know everything that made the USA great and the exact same things that liberals hate. After all, liberals are the party of intolerance and hate. History proves it.

Why weren't you a good citizen and report the drunk driving to the cops?

You're quite willing to put the blame on others, but you did nothing. Nothing. And, if you did witness this, you were in the best position to call the cops and report drunk drivers.

Hypocrite.

A bartender has no legal authority to stop someone from driving. On the other hand they have a duty not to serve drunk patrons.

In the future instead of blaming the bartender why don't you call the police if you believe that they are going to drive.

What bar have any of y'all been to where a bartender has actually cut someone off? I've only seen it happen in ritzy places where "professionals" are dressed up and act more important than they really are but even then its rare. At any regular bar, anything goes.

Once again, fuck you OP.

The police don't care unless you give them a tag number, a specific address and time. And even then they might not show up if they get another call.

And they won't go into the bar, that's not their job.

The only agency you could contact is VABC. And they aren't going to take your word for it and shut 'em down. The only way they can do anything is if they go there themselves and witness it. But the bar, of course, will be tipped off already unless the VABC takes the time to do it very discreetly. Being a government agency, that is highly unlikely.

You also have to consider the fact that they know that pretty much every bar in Virginia and pretty much the entire country is run like this. That's just how bars are, that's how they have always been.

So you have to come to the conclusion, the real issue here is you OP. You are a faggot. You are a prude. The only time you've stay out 'til closing was last night. Don't lie. From here on out, keep your prude ass at home so you can wake up, eat your oatmeal and be in front of the TV in time for The View and shut the fuck up.

Thank you.

rockhound sounds like he works there. he's right, though. nobody cuts people off, especially in trashy springfield. like i said before, they are mostly low-paid non-educated drunks behind the bar themselves. what else would you expect for 2$ an hour? the cops don't give a shit, they are almost as likely to murder you as help you around here. drunks that drive all the time should just kill themselves via brick walls. scum. BUT the bartender isn't the fucking police, if he is expected to be, pay him better. police yourselves, everyone isnt your babysitter.

You wanna go, bruh? I mean, we can take this outside. Or at least into Off-Topic. You sure you want that, prude?

Of course you don't.

Anyway, on a more serious tone in this troll thread, drunk driving is terrible and very stupid. Always plan ahead or limit yourself to a drink an hour and a glass of water in between drinks. Cut yourself off well before you have to leave.

If you slip and have one too many, spend the extra money on a cab. It's not worth it to go out on the road and possibly kill yourself or someone else. It's completely irresponsible.

I don't think enough young people realize exactly how dangerous it is and how much they are risking. If you've ever been behind a drunk driver on the freeway, you know firsthand how reckless it is to drive intoxicated.

Of course, there are some people who have a system down. They're usually older, and can drive just fine as long as they aren't completely hammered. I know a guy in his 60's who can drink all night, I followed him home one night to make sure he got home safe and the fucker was driving completely fine the whole way.

Bullshit. If you cared, you would have called the cops whenever you saw them driving, not waited until you got home. You wasted 911's time with that sort of call.

Or, you just made the assumption the drunks drove and didn't see squat except folks drinking at a drinking establishment.

If I had been there at closing, and if I had "cared" about drunks driving home from there, I would have called the cops, with tag numbers, as soon as I saw any one of the drunks get behind the wheel.

Kilroys has one one and DONE policy, if they tell you to take a cab home or not drive, and you do not comply you a PERMANENTLY banned! I have personally witnessed this more than once.

Why pick on kilroys? I've been in the biz for over 20 years! 98% of all bartenders will over serve! it is THEIR JOB !!!!It is how they makes living!

PERSONAL responsibility, or lack of, is NECESSARY in a FREE society. would you prefer no freedom?

quick for you and your drunk friends is totally better than safe for everyone else. everybody does it. it was only innocent people in a one mile radius that were in danger, so it's ok. it's not like the area is surrounded by homes and children or anything.
if you had any grasp of responsibility you would stop making excuses for why it's ok to endanger the lives of strangers for your drunken convenience and recreation. seriously? your fun is more important than peoples lives?
you should probably engage in behavior that only risks YOUR life, since it's obviously so worthless to you.
people make mistakes, but the fact that you don't think it's wrong at all is reprehensible. who cares that it's against the law; you could kill people.

Virginia has no dram shop laws. The establishment that served the alcohol has no criminal or civil liability for over-serving a patron. The only consequences they could face would be regulatory infractions levied by ABC.

They take taxi's or have a designated driver most of the time. There's always that one person in the group that is sober.

It would of just been a waste of time for police. Kilroy's has signs clearly posted that say they will not serve you if you are intoxicated.

Not to mention that a lot of Fairfax County Fireman and policeman actually hang out in Kilroy's.

Ha! Kilroy's would be lucky if the puke hit a toilet or urinal 10% of the time. From the awful smell that always permeates Kilroys, most puke must hit the floor in the bar or restaurant and rarely if ever gets cleaned up. Same for urine, cum, and perhaps even feces.

Yup, plus if police responded to every call of a drunk person they would have to put a car in the parking lot of restaurant and house in Fairfax county.

Because they probably were off duty cops or fireman. That place is famous spot for local cops to party.

I said I was surprised, which you can take to mean I was not aware until this point of said behavior, and therefore could not have previously made decisions based on that information. I don't plan on going back. You go back to sucking on your Blue Mountain Kock you drunk. We get it by now, loser drunks stick together.

I do drink, that's why I was at the bar. I just don't get wasted and drive. I love breaking laws, just not ones that kill other people.

Cabs don't usually let you smoke and after drinking you need to cook a bowl on the way home before going to bed.

Just because a bunch of people are having fun and playing around doesn't mean they are all drunk.

I go out to bars all the time with friends and get a little sloppy. We just have a friend come pick us up when we leave. I do the same for my friends. It sucks having some drunks your car being the only sober one, but I'm sure they think the same when driving me.

Plus, a lot patrons of Kilroy's can walk to neighborhood next to it.

They could have called a cab or a friend to pick them up. Maybe they had someone with them who wasn't drinking (designated driver). Maybe they walked home to a nearby neighborhood...

People have been getting drunk and getting home safely from Kilroy's for a long, long time. Not something I do myself now. But I used to.

Well if you saw an obvious drunk getting behind the wheel of a car, you should have taken down the license plate number and called the cops. Why didn't you?

I call bullshit on this!

This sounds like somebody who got thrown out of the bar. Probably for being drunk themselves and trying to get revenge.

that's a bunch of crap made up to due bars out of business.

and done by democrats who know republicans own a bar or vice versa, politically, to grab land

----------------------------------
um i'm in a bar look fine later report an accident and want all your money since it's your fault you didn't notice i might have a particular alchohol level?

absolute crap

-----------------------------
fairly if a bar person KNOWS somehow they would drive (how could they unless they called the FBI and asked). unless it's oen person alone smashed. or they didn't ask

they'd only have some clue about ammount and whether the person was a designated driver or not if the custoemr was a regular

-------------------------------
saying all bars have to keep a dossie on each customer, each bar girl to a customer, each bargirl has to ghave a degree in psychology and police tactics

what a pile of crap. a pile of crap made up by dishonest lawyers

a pile of crap made up by counties who know a disability bill is coming and use the court to blame the business that did the best it could: which is theft

You witnessed an inebriated person drive a car and you were too fucking lazy to call the cops and report it.

STFU about the bartenders. You're no better, maybe even worse because YOU witnessed a drunk who was driving a car and did nothing about it, except bitch about someone else.

I think you're just a liar (or in favor of drunk drivers).

Of course the op is full of crap with a personal vendetta. However, as soon as they posted this a bunch of folks came rushing to defend the people in question, with specific details- so OF COURSE it happened- and apparently happens all the time (at many bars). Just because he's mad you boned his wife or something, doesn't mean that shit didn't happen. If you're gonna piss everybody off, keep your nose clean.

Actually it kind of is... if any one of those six people had been involved in an accident, the bartender would have been held partly-liable. Many restaurants put their bartenders through training to make sure they know the signs of when someone has had too much and how to go about helping lower that person's BAC.

If the police or VABC get enough complaints they will do something about it, but why just single out kilroys ? A few campaign events happen there, that would be the time to drop the dime.

No, there's no liability for the bartender or the establishment in Virginia. Virginia does not have dram-shop laws.

OP is a whiner but look at all the people that hopped on in Kilroys defense talking about how it happens every day and not to worry. I'd guess at least one of those folks is a bartender there and many others appear to frequently drive home from there after drinking all night.
