Drowning's not like the movies....

With beach and pool season opening, it's worth re-reading Slate's account of what real-life drowning looks like. People in trouble often never have a chance to thrash, wave or scream; they slip under the water quietly and never come back up.

I had to be rescued once... I was doing a mile swim. Thankfully it was in a pool. I got tired and went under. next thing I remember was getting dragged out of the pool and the beginning of CPR...

Not even a chance to get scared or panicked...

Anyone who takes their children and/or their friends to a pool or the beach and especailly those who own pools should read this article and PAY ATTENTION. I can't tell you how many mothers I've seen with their noses in a book while their very young child is unattended in the water. GRRRRRRR....
