Caps: going to win tonight and extend lead or blow it like usual?
Posted by: Bonzai ()

Caps go up against the Rangers for game 5 tonight.

The Caps are up 3 - 1 in the series and can advance to the next round with a decisive or even not so decisive victory. Will the rise to the challenge or revert to form and let the the Rangers win this one and sweep the next two games to knock them out?

Zippy chance the Caps can go into MSG tonight and win this game. The NYR have their backs against the wall and will win and win big. 5-1 is my prediction.

However, based on the way Holt-beast is playing...I just don't see how the NYR can win three straight against the Caps.

In closing, if the Caps do manage to lose this series...this will add yet another angle on some genuinely historic shitting of the bed by this franchise. Nobody fears this team. Nobody. Now, you don't need a team to fear you in order to beat them but, until the NYR are eliminated they will always think they have a chance to come back and win this series. Most teams once they get down 3-1 in a series pack it in and lose the series 4-1. But not teams playing the Caps.

Luck seems to be with them so its possible. I do think they will win one of the next three if it goes that far. Its as close a series as Ive seen. Great goal tending and very smart if not exceptional play by the Caps. Caps are playing 'moneyball' style hockey. They load their own end, give up low percentage shots on their goal but have kept the crease pretty closed off. They dump the puck toward the end of the game to preserve the lead rather than risk an attack. They win face offs. Nothing showy just percentage hockey. All possible because of Holtby.

Caps will lose tonight, no doubt. Rangers are going to win this round. Sad but true.

It's not the losing I mind so much. Every team is going to lose games. Nobody is going to go 16-0 and win the Cup. Well, teams did it long ago...but not in today's NHL.

What I mind is the epic soiling of the bed linens the Caps insist on doing EVERY SINGLE PLAYOFFS! It's just epic...

Dudes...you were 100 seconds from closing out the Rangers. 100 seconds. You laid back, trying to protect a lead and letting Holtby face more rubber than an Asian hooker. If you sit back and let them shoot? Eventually, they are going to score.

And the Ward "no-goal"? Horsecrap! Players have a right to stand where Ward was standing. His skates didn't enter the crease until AFTER the puck went in the net. Lundqvist moved out and initiated the contact and meanwhile the NYR defenseman shoved Ward into Lundqvist. That may have been the correct call according to the rules but, that rule needs to be changed and should be reviewable.

If the Caps lose game 6, this series is over. Zippy chance the Caps can go to MSG for game 7 and win.

Caps shit the bed again. Has there ever been a sports franchise so prone to choking when it counts? They are the Obamas of the NHL!

Just enough to keep CAPs fans interested then blow it in the last game.

The Caps will lose yet ANOTHER playoff series after having a 3-1 game advantage. (Zero chance they win game seven in NY.) How can one franchise be so epically bad when up by such a comfortable margin? 90% of teams historically win after gaining a 3-1 lead. Not the caps.

Next choke job will be the wizards followed by the nats later this fall. Skins blow and won't sniff the playoffs. Maybe that's a good thing.

There's no way they win in NY. This will be an epic fucking chokejob, the likes of which the franchise will not recover from.

Truth-in-Advertising dictates that the Caps be renamed the Washington Bedshitters.

Except President Obama went 2-0 in his contests for the White House - undefeated. Caps are more like Mitt Romney and John McCain. What a bummer...

Unfortunately, Obamas only talent has been running for office. Everything else he does is a failure.

They were 1:41 from advancing to the next round in Game 5 and choked. It was over at that moment. I anticipate Game 7 to be a major collapse with the Rangers scoring multiple goals in the first period and Caps never recovering. We've all seen this movie before.

WOW DUDE, YOU ARE A FIRST CLASS DOUCHEBAG. LETS SEE....DIDN'T THE CAPS WIN A GAME IN THIS SERIES WITH 1 SECOND LEFT ON THE CLOCK??? I BELIEVE THEY DID. HERE YOU ARE WHINING LIKE A LITTLE BITCH THAT GOT TAKEN OFF HIS MOMMY'S NIPPLE.

ALSO, THE CAPS HAVE ADVANCED FURTHER THAN THE WASHINGTON FORESKINS AND NATIONALS IN ANY POST SEASON PLAY IN YEARS! NOT SURE WHAT THE WIZZARDS STANDINGS ARE CURRENTLY.

ANYWAY, THE POINT IS BASICALLY THAT THE CAPS AND WIZZARDS HAVE ADVANCED FURTHER THAN ANY OTHER PUKE ASS D.C. TEAM HAS IN YEARS.

I DON'T FOLLOW EITHER SPORT OR TEAM BUT SINCE THEY ARE LOCAL I HOPE THEY GO ALL THE WAY! EXCEPT THE FORESKINS.

They're a DC-area team, my brother. What else do you expect?

They have a better chance of winning game 7 on the road, actually. Just like the Nationals, they're big-time chokers in big playoff games at home. Blame the douchebag with the horn at every home game -- if you were on a team and the fans in your city were that gay, you wouldn't play well either. :-)

Watching the Capitals in the playoffs is like watching a "pro" wrestling match. You got the underdog villain (Capitals) against the favorite (any NHL team). The villain always seems to get in a few body slams while the favorite appears to act as if he can't stop them. The crowd boos louder after each beating on the favorite good guy. But then, just as the good guy is laying on the mat apparently defeated, the villain starts circling the ring with his chest out, pumping his fists, taunting the fans. But then the fans start cheering loudly as the good guy miraculously comes to life. The villain continues to circle the ring pumping his fists thinking the crowd is cheering for him. He is totally clueless that the good guy is about to pummel him to death. The villain is counted out shortly thereafter.

The Caps have advanced to the second round multiple times in the past and shit the bed. And you can't compare NHL or NBA to NFL or MLB. Half the fucking teams in NHL and NBA make it to the playoffs. Making it to, and through, round 1 isn't that much of an accomplishment compared to winning a playoff game in NFL or MLB. And, yes, the Foreskins have advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs under Snyder, Mr fucking sports expert.
