Fairfax Academy Presents Tony-Award Winning Cats

Cats, the record-setting and Tony-award winning Broadway musical, will be performed by Fairfax Academy students January 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, and 26, at Fairfax High School. Fairfax Academy is one of six high school academies in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)

The performance is comprised of students from Dance and Professional Musical Theater and Actor’s Studio classes, and includes more than 75 FCPS students from 15 different high schools. A live orchestra will accompany the production.

Shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. on January 17, 18, 24, and 25. Matinees will be performed at 2:30 p.m. on January 18, 19, 25, and 26. The afternoon shows on January 18 and 25 are a condensed version geared for the Young Artist Series, a program of the City of Fairfax Commission on the Arts. During the matinees, there will be special activities, including time with the cast before and after performances.

Based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the musical was created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and is presented entirely through music and dance, using Eliot’s poems as the text.

Tickets are available online in advance or at the door.
