The election will go on, as scheduled.

Best advice I can give is get out and vote early before the storm really gets going. Polls will be open at 6 AM, as always.

The election will go on, as scheduled. We are working with the Fairfax Emergency Management folks, SBE, VDOT and VDMM on plans for tomorrow

Of the 10 polling locations in Fairfax, 9 of them are in schools. Even if FCPS is closed tomorrow, those polling locations will be open

Here's my post from Facebook (the preceeding were my tweets):

"With inclement weather expected tomorrow for the 33rd Senate District Primary, folks have been asking us what is going to happen to the election tomorrow.

The election will go on, regardless of the weather. Even if Fairfax County Public Schools are closed, the election will still be held tomorrow, and FCPS is aware of the 9 polling locations in Fairfax in the 33rd District are located in schools that must be open for the election tomorrow.

We are working with Fairfax County's Office of Emergency Management as well as with VDOT, the State Board of Elections and the Commonwealth's Department of Mines and Minerals (responsible for public utilities) to ensure that power, snow removal and access to these polling places are a top priority tomorrow.

Fairfax County's OEM is predicting the following: ":Amount and Type of Precipitation Expected: 4-6” of light fluffy snow expected to accumulate with this storm. A maximum potential of 8”.

Timeframe for Storm: The winter storm is expected to begin on Tuesday Jan. 21st between 8am-10am. The heaviest snow is expected to fall after noon and continue into the evening rush hour. The storm is expected to taper off after midnight or later."

So if you're planning on voting tomorrow, vote early and hopefully you can avoid some of the worst of the storm.

Stay safe out there."

Why do you post here, Brian? It seems beneath you.

Aren't you busy practicing law locally representing unions?

Do you have a wife and kids? If not, why?

Appreciate the update and transparency, though. I figured that there would be a more formal setting to do so for local politics.

TIA.

Isn't Brian one of the local election supervisors? If so then even if it was a part time position, reminding people of the arrangements for voting would seem to be part of the job.

I post here because people read the stuff posted here, and I enjoy engaging with my fellow citizens. I'm just a regular person - the whole "beneath me" nonsense is for folks who are scared to talk to people on the internet.

I am busy practicing law, running elections, and lobbying for a labor union, but today also happens to be a holiday and the day before an election, so I'm monitoring social media while I enjoy the day off the good Dr. King earned for many of us.

Yes, I have a wife and a kid. Kid's at day care, wife's watching TV ten feet from me.

I will never vote for Brian. After the fiasco of the Herring/Obershain recount and Schoeneman's pathetic role in it, he's toast in republican circles. Just become a democrat Brian and be done with it.

You're an idiot. Do you really think a Republican would deliberately throw the election in favor of the Democrat? Or are you just disappointed that he didn't lie and cheat to get Obershain elected? Either way, it says a lot more about you and people like you than it does about Brian. I'm a Democrat, but I have to respect Brian for the way he handled the election and recount.

You can't even spell Obenshain but I'm supposed to believe that you vote?

Nope.

And nice try - I'm a Republican, have been and always will be.

Yes Brian, you better believe I vote. And I'll never vote for you. Neither will my wife or parents. I'll tell everyone that I know not to vote for you. I am on several conservative boards and blogs and if you're ever on a ballot, I'll let everyone know what a slime you were in the recount. Believe what you want fool. If I were so motivated, I could get Ken Cuccinelli to vouch for me and what I can and can't do to derail a two-bit RINO like you. But I'm not so motivated. Just know that there are lots of conservative Tea Party types like me out here that will do what we can to make sure you never hold elected office no matter how well we spell. The GOP is splitting and you are on the wrong side.

Here you go Brian. Real bona fides from libs and democrats. And the saddest part is you think they'll actually vote for you because you didn't fight for every vote for Obenshain. They'll throw you under the bus just like they did McCain and they're doing to that fat RINO Christie. No votes on the left. No votes on the right. That leaves you with no votes.

Wow. Typical Tea Party bully. I bet your wife, parents, and kids are afraid of you - and no, that's not a compliment. Truly revolting.

By the way, I forgot to mention that I used to be a Republican. It was only when people like you hijacked the party that I switched sides. No surprise you think Brian is a RINO - he's sane.

Sorry, but I don't think the fact that I ignore taunting from anonymous whiners on FFU is going to keep me from winning elected office in Fairfax, especially considering I'm not running for anything and don't plan on it in the immediate future.

Regardless, if I were running in the future, I'm not going to worry about losing four votes from somebody who doesn't care to learn the facts and just wants to bash me for no reason. I know there will be plenty of folks who won't vote for me just because they can't pronounce my last name.

At the end of the day, I know we did the right thing in the recount, and that's all that matters to me. If it costs me your vote, so be it.

Dude, it's going to cost you the support of just about all conservatives and Tea Party voters. Why you can't/won't see that is OK by me. It is a fact. Bearing drift isn't the only place that conservatives in VA get together. If you don't know the other places, that tells you what we think of you. Luke warm RINOs don't cut it anymore. Watch how many go down in flames as we sit out this next election. A slower speed over the cliff isn't what we'll vote for now. What the GOP establishment (of which you are one) did to Ken this past election will NEVER be forgotten or forgiven. NEVER.

No, it won't. Most voters recognize that what we did was to benefit all voters, not just Republicans or Democrats. I have greater faith that those who pay attention and care to learn the truth will do so, and folks like you are the minority of a minority.

I know all the other blogs out there, as I've been doing this for a while now.

The GOP establishment, including me, did as much as we could to help Ken in the past election, and it wasn't enough.

Brian's running? I would vote for him as a Republican hating Liberal partisan fuck. Why would I? He seems to be a Conservative sure but has shown nothing but integrity as far as I am concerned. I also appreciate Mr. Schoeneman's contribution to this forum very much.

Brian is the type of Republican that would put me back in touch with my Conservative values. We need more people like Brian irrespective of the party they belong to.

Already trying to rewrite history less than 3 months after the fact. Typical RINO. You don't think we know that Ken got 1/3 the money from the GOP that McDonnell got 4 years earlier. Or that the RGA gave more money to Christie, who was up by 40 points in the polls than they did to Ken, especially during the government shutdown when we were inundated with McAuliffe commercials and Ken had to stick to radio because he ran out of money. I would almost vote for in a primary just to get you on the ballot so the bitchslapping you'd get in the general would send the message to the GOP establishment that RINO's can't win anymore.

Another example of Brian's naivety. Gerry, the most partisan sheeple on here lying that he'd vote for this RINO. And I'm sure Brian is stupid enough to believe it. Fool

I donated to Ken. Did you?

I'm not going to argue the RGA issue, because I wished they done more, but RGA isn't Virginia and doesn't represent Virginia Republicans.

I'm no RINO.

I did a hell of a lot more than just donate money. As I said before, I could call Ken up, he'd take my call. I know him, his wife and his kids. You are no Ken Cuccinelli. You are a RINO. Your posts in this thread prove it.

Clearly, you didn't do enough, because Ken didn't win. It's clearly your fault.

But hey, since you don't post under your real name, we have no idea if anything you are saying is true. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Why? Because I'm that kind of guy.

Give Ken my best when you call.

I would vote for Brian, he seems cool and down to earth. He posts on FFXU for God sakes. If that's not enough to vote for someone I don't know what is. I don't know if an endorsement from me would be very beneficial for him in a Republican Primary.

Although I do feel Republicans with integrity and compassion are the only way the Republican party will find success again.

That's the best your got? Sorry, unless you have pictures of you and Ken in your house, with Teiro sitting and chatting with your wife, you're not close to being in my league.

But like you said, I could be writing anything. (I'm not).

This isn't about Ken, Brian. It's about you. And you will not get the vote of Virginia Tea Party or conservative voters. Instead of this silly back and forth, I'll let you stew in your delusions that you somehow will win without us. Enjoy the dream because if you run, you won't get more than 40% of the vote, guaranteed. Chomp on that RINO.

Anonymity allows me to tell you the truth. Believe it or not. It makes no never mind to me. But it is the truth and you're political career is now relegated to some party apparatchik that toils in the dreary dark rooms of vote counters, making sure that all the democrat ballots get through while your counterparts are contesting every republican ballot that has so much as a folded corner. Go ahead Brian, embrace Gerry. He's a big fan. I'll make sure this thread gets forwarded around so conservatives can see where you get your political support. LOL

Feel free to post your photos. I'd be interested in seeing how you decorate.

If I ever run again, I will want the votes of conservatives, moderates and liberals. I will want the votes of Tea Party voters and progressives. I want every vote from everybody who is willing to cast one for me, regardless of their political party or politics. That's how you win elections.

Anonymity doesn't allow you to tell the truth, because if you care about the truth, you'd have the testicular fortitude to put your name on what you write. I do. Always have. Why is it easier to tell the truth when hiding behind a screen?

Anyway, if me running the election fairly and ensuring that every vote got counted properly, regardless of who they voted for means that I'm "relegated to the dreary dark rooms of vote counters" for the rest of my career, then I can enjoy darkness knowing I did the right thing.

I know that may be a hard concept for some folks, but it isn't for me.

"I have a scheme" - maybe if you, ken and your wives spent less time at your house resting on your laurels and more time campaigning you would actually have won. I'm a Republican and I'm sick of lazy, anonymous wimps like you putting forth losers and blaming real public servants like Brian Schoeneman you lose. Be a real man and a real Christian and stop whining. Get a life, not a scheme. Have fun circulating this thread among your fellow anonymous bottom feeders.

It's possible - if the Governor decides to declare an emergency. But that hasn't happened yet. If it does, he can postpone the election for up to 14 days, under Virginia Code Sec. 24.2-603.1.

I doubt it's Ron. He and I get along and he's never been afraid to give me a hard time when I deserve it in person. He's also smart enough to know that what our friend here is writing is wrong.

Special election goes on despite snowstorm

Special election goes on despite snowstorm
http://www.leesburgtoday.com/news/special-election-will-go-on-despite-snowstorm/article_a31bbc44-8210-11e3-b722-001a4bcf887a.html

The forecast of 3 to 5 inches of snow across the area is likely to deter some voters from trudging out to the polls in the 33rd state Senate District's special election Tuesday.

Voters will decide the successor for now Attorney General Mark Herring—and which party takes the reins of the Senate. The election will go on as planned no matter the weather conditions, according to the Virginia State Board of Elections.

The snow is expected to arrive in the area about 6 a.m. Tuesday. Light snow showers will continue until noon, followed by moderate to heavy snowfall until 2 a.m. Wednesday, according to The Weather Channel.

Which candidate in the three-way race was favored to win the special election was already anybody’s guess, but slick roads and precipitation makes the outcome even more uncertain. The candidates are Independent Joe T. May, Democrat Jennifer Wexton and Republican John Whitbeck.

“The weather is certainly going to decrease turnout overall,” Mark Sell, chairman of the Loudoun County Republican Committee, said Monday. “But weather affects everybody so I don’t know if it offers an advantage to any particular candidate. I think it’s just going to inconvenience everybody.”

Valerie Suzdak, chairwoman of the Loudoun County Democratic Committee, sounded confident that Democrats will turn out. “We know that the balance of the Senate is at stake here, and we know it’s important to turn out to make sure the Democrats control the Senate,” she said. “I don’t think a little snow is going to keep people away from voting.”

Sell encouraged voters to get to the polls early, before snow starts to accumulate.

Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Residents will vote in their normal polling places. To view verify where to vote, go to www.loudoun.gov/vote.

We've started getting word that some voters are going to non-school polling locations because of the word that FCPS schools are closed today. DON'T DO THAT. All polling locations in Fairfax County that are based in schools are open and accepting voters right now.

Voters who go to the wrong precinct and demand a provisional ballot will not have their ballot counted. You must cast a ballot in your proper polling place today for it to count.

Please pass the word - we are fully open for business today, so please go to your proper precinct and cast your vote in the 33rd. There's no snow on the ground in central Fairfax right now, so now is a great time to get out and vote.

Nova Politics, my map is the updated map August 2013. I think your map is prior to Republicans redrawing the districts and gerrymandering them more after 2010.

You can see the new district cuts off in Dulles and are pieces of Herndon missing too? It also looks much more gerrymandered in general.

About half an hour until the polls close.

We're at close to 17% turnout for Fairfax, which is pretty good, considering the snow.

Hopefully we'll have results coming in soon after the polls close, hopefully earlier than 8 PM.

I am very unhappy that a state of emergency was not declared. I was unable to get to my polling place and was unable to vote. This is an abomination.

You command about as much clout in conservative Fairfax circles as I command in black circles in Prince George's County.

Total numbers from Fairfax: 3,253 Wexton, 1,691 Whitbeck, 409 May, 1 write-in and 3 provisionals.

It's a shame they didn't nominate May (imo)

She beat em both combined it seems. So that means the Democrats control the Senate right? What happened with the recount in Norfolk? That seems likely a Democratic win.

So now control of the entire State Senate hangs on 9 votes. 9 votes out of Norfolk is what is deciding who controls the entire Senate. Unbelievable the recent election results in this state.

The GOP has requested a recount it seems last Thursday.

Not sure if there have been any developments there.

What is unbelievable to me is Cuccinelli almost pulled out the win. I'm of the mindset that moderate Republicans have a better chance of winning, but this baffled me. No federal shut down and I think we'd have had another Republican Governor.

What I don't like is when an unqualified candidate like Boysko almost wins by smearing her opponent (Rust). I question whether folks really know who they are voting for and what each candidate's stance is on the issues.

EW Jackson losing, that I get.
