Yes, this is a troll thread. This is the same troll who has been posting teacher and administrator salaries on every facebook post on FCPS that discusses snow days, delays, closures, etc. He thinks he is *awesome* for having that information as if it's not already public domain, has not already been shared multiple times on FFU, and is not readily available by simply opening up fcps.edu and reading their salary scales. Technically, this could also be someone impersonating him since he's already been discussed here on FFU.
What he fails to realize is that these snow days are made up in advance by having extra time built into the school day. They are an accumulation of overtime already worked by the teachers and students that is then given to them in the form of a snow day. Think of it as accumulating sick leave. Teachers and students work over the required amount of time required by the state (180 days OR 990 instructional hours). That extra time is "banked" and then depleted as they are given days off due to the weather. If the school system goes OVER the allotted extra days, they then tack on days at the end of the year, spring break, work days, etc.
For the record, I agree that closing for the cold is ridiculous. Often times a 2 hour delay is enough to ensure buses can get started and get to where they are going. However, I simply do not think it is as big of a deal as people like Malcom Hall do.
BTW - his Facebook page says he attended an alternative school in West Virginia whose description states "alternative schools include schools for potential dropouts, residential treatment centers for substance abuse, schools for chronic truants, and schools for students with behavioral problems."
