With all of these burger joints opening left and right, are we living in a burger bubble that's about to burst?

I wish half these places would turn into BBQ joints.

Yes. And soon to follow will be the bust of the frozen yogurt market.

Not any time soon unless people get tired of fro-yo (which won't be in a long time) or all the stores become the same and only one specific fro-yo place is the most popular

Variations in the stores means most of them will survive

Beanie baby bubble. Bubble burst.
Cupcake bubble. Bubble burst.
Frozen yogurt bubble. FroYo burst.
Burger bubble. Bubble will burst.

The difference is that Beanie babies became a niche and an "investment" to rednecks. They lost value and demand
Fro yo and burgers, on the other hand are common, popular, won't lose value or demand and are not a niche.

It is true that there is an abundance of burger places that could fail. Depends on which one people like the most and which people like the least.

Froyo - Pinkberry filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Cupcakes - Crumbs filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Mark my word - one of these will be fried on the griddle due to overexpansion, slowed demand, and busted bubble.

BGR
Elevation
Smashburger
Five Guys
Shake Shack
Bobby's Burger Palace
Mooyah
Freddy's

Remember all the cookie joints.

Yep, many of them ended up as undercooked dough.

Remember gourmet popcorn.

Remember gourmet jellybeans.

Flash in the pan. Make the money and run. Those late to the party are left with long-term leases, excess inventory, and ruined dreams.

Well yeah, but some stores will survive, obviously. (Five guys) A lot of stores screw up and die off. Not quite a bubble, though. Just a lot of people who aren't quite good at business chasing something lucrative. Capitalism, my friend.

also, that wasj ust a local pinkberry joint

Five Guys will let anyone open a store anywhere. Unlike McDonalds which carefully analyzes where to put them. Because Five Guys will let you fail and close down, without worry (to them). That's why so many Five Guys closings ... and so many openings right after that, even in essentially (or exactly) the same location.
