Typically in France, someone is murdered with a gun every two to three days. On a typical day in the United States, 32 people will be murdered with a gun. The United States has a gun homicide rate more than 14 times higher than France.

Actually much worse than shown the top-line graphs that they highlight.

To the author's credit, they do note later an important distinction in the numbers:

"As The Washington Post noted last year, African-Americans who are killed by gun violence are significantly more likely to die as a result of a homicide. Whites are much more likely to use a gun to commit suicide.

A white person is five times as likely to commit suicide with a gun as to be shot with a gun; for each African American who uses a gun to commit suicide, five are killed by other people with guns."

The fact is that even with very strict gun controls already in place there are thousands of military type weapons in France and these are the real thing full automatic AK-47's from war zones, not semi automation versions as in the US stolen from law abiding people.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2015-01-07/paris-killings-show-rise-of-banned-weapons-of-war-in-france.html

In the US many people have a choice of self defense unless their choice has been outlawed by liberals with gun free zones or laws like the "Free State of Maryland"

In France they had no choice, nothing. In Virginia we have a choice.

If all guns were outlawed in the US Black crime deaths would continue. Its not because of the NRA, The state of Virginia, or any other garbage reasons that liberals want to come up with. Its a case of Simple Respect for one another in the Black Community, Respect that is not "hip'. Respect thats not shown in videos. Take all the guns away and as long as drugs and lack of respect exist killings will continue by the blade or club.

In Washington DC the Post told the story of a young man lured to his gunshot death by a phone call. Change gunshot to stabbing or beaten, the result is the same

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/dozens-in-dc-maryland-paid-the-ultimate-price-for-cooperating-with-police/2015/01/10/978b1a18-b5f6-11e3-b899-20667de76985_story.html

And humans can be very creative, making new types of lethal weapons that kill with out resorting to firearms.New weapons we have never even thought of today.

In the suburbs robbing and killing would be much easier for thugs, after all no need to wonder if the old Virginian is armed or not. A quick silent blow to the head, or a jab with a sharp blade makes far less noise then a gun.

And police? With their magic "Death Rays" in their holsters will have to travel in pairs or threes to keep themselves from becoming victims of thugs wanting to take their deadly force. Just as the Boston Bombers killed the MIT police officer to try and get his pistol. They failed only because they were jittery and could not get the retaining release off on the officers holster.

They were able to track down multiple cells by being able to trace the guns since their sale was illegal.

True. There are literally +100 million AKs all over the world. Nobody other than law abiding people in the US buy the neutered semi-auto versions. The rest go for the real shit because they can. They're cheap, readily available, and crazy Islamists, African warlords, international drug cartels, or any of the rest don't give a shit about any petty ass laws.

Let me make it simple for you. Since guns are illegal so are their sales. Their sources are also few. So you can track down a multitude of linked cells by their gun source. Which is what happened.

Uh, no. The sources for AKs are not few. There are millions all over Europe left over as surplus from the Bosnian conflicts, not to mention after the fall of Yugoslavia and the other ____slavs where they were produced by the millions, also through every two-bit African warlord, drug cartels, and assorted other illicit sources. Nor are there traceable records of black market guns sales you retard.

What happened was that the guy who sold them came forward because he didn't want to face terrorism charges if they thought that he was directly involved versus lesser gun violations. They've not identified any other cells.

Apparently because he thought that they'd be linked at some point because of contacts that he had with Coulibaly and his wife independent of any "tracing" of the weapons. They did not and could not trace the source from the weapons or identify other "cells" based on any weapons source.

Belgian arms dealer confesses to supplying Paris attackers

The terrorists who killed 17 people in three days last week purchased their Kalashnikovs and rocket launchers in Brussels for less than 5,000 euros.

By Reuters, The Associated Press and Shlomo Papirblat
Jan. 15, 2015 9:44 PM

The terrorists who perpetrated the attacks in Paris last week got their weapons from an arms dealer in Brussels.

The dealer, a known figure in Brussels’ underworld, turned himself in to local police on Tuesday, according to Belgian media.

Federal police, who searched the suspect’s apartment, found papers linking him to a transaction with Amedy Coulibaly, the jihadist who murdered four Jewish men and held others hostage at the Hyper Cacher kosher supermarket in east Paris on Friday.

According to the local press, the man sold Coulibaly the Skorpion submachine guns he used in the attack, as well as the rocket propelled grenade launcher and the Kalashnikov automatic assault rifles that Said and Cherif Kouachi used to perpetrate the massacre at the offices of Charlie Hebdo. The weapons were purchased near the Midi railway station in downtown Brussels for less than 5,000 euros, according to the reports.

French media reports Wednesday morning said that the funding for the arms purchase was simply a standard loan of 6,000 euros ($7,050) that Coulibaly took out on December 4 from the French financial-services firm Cofidis. He used his real name but falsely stated his monthly income on the loan declaration, a statement the company didn't bother to check, the reports say.

The suspect, a known arms smuggler and dealer in the underworld, from the town of Charleroi, turned himself in on Tuesday to the Charleroi police and asked to confess to supplying the weapons. He told police that a few months ago Coulibaly had initiated contact with him, seeking to buy a car. The man said that once he realized that Coulibaly was a jihadist terrorist, he feared that the detectives would reach him because of the link between them.

Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service had acknowledged in its latest terror assessment that plotters can find "easily accessible weapons" including knives, small arms and small bombs, inside Denmark for use in attacks.

The use of bombs has become more problematic in recent years as European law enforcement officials have greatly increased tracking of precursor chemicals that can be used to make explosives. Bombs carry a high risk of detection when the components are being assembled, and they are inherently unstable and often malfunction, with deadly results for the hapless bomb makers.

In contrast, it is relatively easy for terrorists with underworld connections to obtain heavy weapons on the black market, particularly in the Balkan countries of Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia.

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, hundreds of thousands of heavy weapons became available at black market arms bazaars in Hungary and other former Soviet bloc countries. Those weapons helped fuel the Balkan wars, and are still available today for buyers with good connections and ample cash. More than 500,000 weapons were also stolen from Albanian arms depots in 1997, adding to the black market flow.

European Commission documents indicate that nearly 500,000 other weapons lost or stolen within the European Union remain unaccounted for, and cite an increase in the number of civilian and military weapons stolen in France.

A 2013 report states that "large amounts of powerful military grade weapons" have reached the European Union since the collapse of the Soviet bloc and the fighting in the Balkans. The weapons are often smuggled in cars or buses in small quantities to avoid detection. It also says upheavals in the Middle East and North Africa may make more stolen or surplus military weapons available to Europe's criminal gangs.

The only way to decrease gun related crime is to follow the 2nd amendment. France doesn't have such freedoms. The original chart by C-tadrz is inaccurate. Disarming the public is a sure way to get a jack-booted thug's barrell pointed at you, forcing you and everyone else to bend over a hickory stump (figuratively of course). You cannot compare France to the US anymore than you can apples and oranges. If you want crime to increase, disarm everyone, like Hitler did. Learn from history, you red-diper-doper-baby, communist pansy.
