Residental Towing
Posted by: Kate ()

We live in Fairfax City on Ardmore Street, near Maple. There is a “No Parking without Permit” sign in front of our house that people completely disregard. Does anyone have any idea who to call regarding towing?

Thanks in advance!

Didn't think to look on the police section of fairfaxva.gov.

Is towing really a police issue? That seems unnecessary.

Who made the parking area in front of your home a restricted parking area? An HOA or the city? If the city did, then enforcement falls under the police department. Call Sgt. Trahey. They enforce restricted parking areas on public roads. They can tell you what to do. Trust me.

Let me know if I am wrong.

No; it is not a police issue.

right on the city website!is incorrect.

Email information@fairfaxva.gov or call 703.385.7800 to report.

See http://www.fairfaxva.gov/government/treasurer/automobile/decals for more.

I just called the police dept. You call the police department. 703-385-7924. Parking enforcement services is under police department. They said to call them and they will send somebody out. You don't believe me? Call the number yourself. Got right through to a real live police officer.

These are city decals, NOT parking decals. It is a police issue.

Thanks everyone for the info.

We bought our house a few months ago and when we bought our house we received hanging permits that the previous home owner had received from Fairfax City. We just renewed these and received the decals. For me I think these are dual purposed City and Parking decals.

Out of curosity, I just called the number provided by "Clarification" and that number worked too. I think both avenues work.

On a side note, LOL on anyone getting heated over who to call regarding towing.

Anyone who called the pigs (police) for parking issues deserves to burn in hell. It's a fucking civil matter. If you have a problem with someone parking in "your" spot just go up to them and talk it out like normal people.

If that's really her address and she really did call police then someone should park all their unused cars their all day.

^^^^parking infractions are certainly a police issue. That is why people have parking passes for restricted streets. So they don't have to deal with an asshole. You call the police, they issue a ticket, they have them towed. That's the law, and the law is their problem. An asshole gets towed a few times and they will start to see the light.

Exactly right. Just like the police write the ticket if you don't have a residential parking decal/pass on your own or a visitor's car when they come through whether anyone's called or not. Although they may be able to, from what I've seen they usually don't tow. You'd probably have to run up your tab or be blocking a driveway or something like that. Tickets come easy though.

Our Homeowners Association has a parking chair person who checks and gives notices for people who don't have a permit to park in our community. After a warning they call and have them towed. So if you pay homeowners fees you may ask them.

The parking restrictions are probably there because that is very close to the courthouse. Without the restrictions no one that lived there would ever be able to park.
