Prince William County police charged two domestic partners with possession of child pornography after a tip led investigators to a Tumblr blog and eventually the couple’s Bristow home, a police spokesman announced Tuesday.
Authorities arrested the couple at separate times this month after investigators found images at their Dodsworth Drive home, said Prince William police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok.
Billy Scott McGhee, 47, was taken into custody on Oct. 8. Police arrested Aaron N. Landers, 36, on Monday. Perok said both men, who are domestic partners, are being held without bond.
Prince William detectives received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Aug. 8 that nude and sexual images of underage boys were uploaded to an account via Tumblr, a social media Web site. Perok said the tip led investigators to McGhee, who has a blog on the site, and authorities searched his and Landers’s home.
At their house, authorities found illicit images on multiple electronic and storage devices, according to a police department release. The release said the identity of the victims in the images is unknown, but detectives determined that the subjects were minors.
McGhee is charged with nine counts of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography.
Landers is charged with five counts of possession of child pornography.
A court date for both men is pending, Perok said.
Prince William County police ask that anyone with information contact Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700 or 866-411-TIPS. Authorities said callers may remain anonymous and could earn up to a $1,000 cash reward
