Warner/Gillespie

Debate tonight. 7 p.m. NBC

http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Mark-Warner-Ed-Gillespie-NBC4-Live-Debate-Virginia-Senate-278266221.html

Should be interesting. I know that Warner will win the election--but he lost the last debate. And, his new ad telling everyone that he will fix the taxes so American companies won't go overseas.
Question: Why hasn't he already done it? He's been there six years.

And I love his ad saying how he'll even vote against his own party, except that he rubber stamps legislation for Reid / Obama 97% of the time. Guess he's trying to convince us that 3% of the time is a big deal, when it just more likely he's in the men's room blowing Gerry Connelly and missed a few votes.

I guess I could look it up myself, but I'm lazy. BUT

I would LOVE to see the laundry list of the 97% of legislation in common between Warner and Reid/Obama. And I'd bet a dime to a doughnut that most all of that legislation is stuff that nearly all American citizens would agree is good legislation. I mean c'mon, how much actual legislation even made it out of the Senate anyways lately? The "voting in lockstep with Reid/Obama" tagline is such a red herring.

Warner, as it turns out, did vote with the president’s wishes 97 of the time both last year and since entering the Senate in 2009. That’s slightly higher than the average for all Democratic senators, who backed Obama when he clearly stated a position 96 percent of the time last year and 95.4 percent of the time since 2009.

Here’s Warner’s annual percentage and his ranking in presidential support among all the senators who caucused with the Democrats each year:

96 percent in 2009, 30th out of 60
97 percent in 2010, 30th out of 58
99 percent in 2011, tied for 1st out of 53
96 percent in 2012, 21st out of 53
97 percent in 2013, 39th out of 55

There’s a few things that should be understood about presidential support statistics.

For starters, they deal with only a fraction of the votes Warner has cast. CQ found that Obama staked out a "clear position" on only 419 of 1,473 roll call votes in the Senate -- or 28 percent -- since Warner became a member in 2009.

Warner voted with the president’s position on 406 of those 419 votes. More than half of them, 226, were to confirm presidential nominations for federal posts.

He voted with the president on a The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

Good. His votes are part of the reason our country has rebounded economically and the wheels are moving again in housing and unemployment.

Really going out on a lib there huh Gerr?

Unfortunately for you, Warner's race is already booked.

It's some of the others that you need to worry more about.

It'll turn from funny to hilarious when Gillespie gets his ass handed to him next month.

sorry but anyone who shouts "Benghazi!" and says that teaching evolution in schools is partly to blame for Ebola is basically a teabagger. doesn't matter what they call themselves, they are clearly playing the teabagger line.

For those of us with no dog in the fight, it was pretty obvious who won the debate. With that being said, it should be interesting next month, as it could be closer than any of us realize (think governor's race 2013).

Ah, the classic profanity laced response to a nonpartisan comment. As a Maryland resident who votes left more than he votes right, I don't necessarily care about who wins the election or not. Moreover, my hopes are neither up nor down, but as a "douche", I am more interested in the election's outcome because often times Virginia's political battlefield parallels the national one.

Which is why Vaginaspie doesn't stand a snowball's chance in David Ramadan's rectum. And, I hear it's a hospitable place to hang out.
