When did driving just a few miles around here during rush & non rush hours turn into one huge pain the ass?

Jesus Christ.
Traffic here sucks.
The roads here were not intended to handle the amount of traffic we currently have.
Will things only get worse as more people continue to relocate here?

Yes. Welcome to one of the major suburban areas of the United States. And yes, it will get worse.

There will be no improvement. We live in an area where most households have 3 or 4 cars and they all are on the road. Public transportion (the bus and nigger hauler) are a joke and just add to the congestion.

Im just thankful to the Lord Jesus Im getting the fuck out of here in 2015 to a sleepy backwater town in Florida. Wont even need a car.

This is not a new problem, and has in fact been going on for decades.

A significant contributor to the problem is the cul-de-sac layout of so many of Fairfax County's neighborhoods.

Rather than the highly connected streets of a more traditional grid pattern, which creates alternate routes for traffic to flow, developers use the cul-de-sac pattern to maximize the available home sites on a given tract. Home buyer preference also plays a significant role: many people would rather live on a quiet cul-de-sac than a busy neighborhood street.

What this means is that when people want to leave their neighborhood to go to work or go shopping, all that traffic is funneled through one or two exits onto a single primary or secondary road. There's no back route for them to take.

The problem is further compounded by traffic control measures, such as speed humps or conversion to cul-de-sacs, that many residents demand on their residential streets because they don't want a large volume of traffic flowing through their neighborhood, which is wholly understandable.

Clearly, you are the dumb fuck!

Re-read what he wrote about "Im just thankful to the Lord Jesus Im getting

It is still 2014 dumb fuck.

That last part is going to be a problem alright. Florida is one of the worst states in the country to live in. Trip to Disney? Snow-bird sunbathing and beachcombing? No problem. Actually living in the state year-round? Huge-ass problem!!!

Yep. In the 70's an 80's developers were given free reign to build without having to contribute to any road improvements that would be needed to handle all the extra traffic. We've been trying to catch up for the past 40 years due to breaks and kickbacks given by Herrity's BOS.

Like that's not still the case.

Go to a BOS meeting when approvals or some other action affecting one of the local developers comes up and see how many recuse or disclose. They own them all.

Another huge reason I think is traffic lights. There are wayyyy too many traffic lights, especially on 7 near tysons. A lot of unnecessary traffic lights on back roads. Seriously who ever is putting up all the traffic lights must think everyone is a retard and can't make easy decisions, like when to pull out across lanes in low traffic areas. Next time you go driving around here, think about all the dumb traffic light spots and the timing on them are always screwed up.

The roads were not well planned. Merge lanes everywhere. Piss poor intersections and surprise turn lanes. A several year project the fucked the already fucked I-95 south up even worse, just for the sake uf a useless carpool lane when what really needed to happen was widening of I-95. No alternate route for traffic driving through from the north. Take that add the countless number of morons here who have no clue how to drive in traffic. Fuck this place. Cant wait to leave.

I've lived here for 20 years and the road work NEVER stops. There is CONSTANTLY road work.

But the main reason for all the traffic is all the douchebags from up north that come here for jobs, but then complain how much DC sucks and how great their city is and all their sports teams too. They should all be deported.

LOL! The world didn't just start turning the day you were born, you know. Development has been sweeping through area since WWII ended. And Herrity was known for his pro-roads efforts. The Toll Road and 66 inside the Beltway were both projects he pushed for, as examples. Herrity saw the future of Fairfax coming and tried to prepare for it.
