Noticed a police helicopter circling over our cluster in Reston when I got home from work last night. By the time we left for a movie at 7:00 the Brenton Cove cluster was bring swarmed by fairfax county patrol cars and a man was being walked up our street in handcuffs. As we towards South lakes we saw more patrol cars on Ridge Heights west from a South lakes road and a large group of people standing nearby. It would appear that what ever happened occurred in that area and the man was apprehended near Brenton Cove.

More than I little unnerving to see this in our normally very quiet area. Anyone know what occurred?

There's quite an easy way to get an idea of what happened. If the man being led away was white: it was a drug offense or he ran from the scene of a domestic assault. If he was black: it was a robbery, possibly assault too. If he was Hispanic: then it was peeping or a sexually-based crime on a nearby trail.

A local contractor has been hiring illegals, murdering them at the end of the job to avoid paying them, and dumping their bodies near Brenton Cove. FCPD got a tip that the perp was hiding in the area, and moved in to investigate.

FredS, I saw the same thing. I was actually out walking my dog on the trail behind the Montessori school and the helicopter kept circling above which felt eerie. As I was walking down the trail, I saw 2 middle-aged men. They were standing off the trail--one had his back up against the tree, and the other guy was up real close in the other guy's space and was holding out his cell phone. It seemed like I had just stumbled into the middle of something. It seemed like they were having a real intense conversation or something...and my gut reaction was to turn around and walk away, so I did. I walked back to my home and a few minutes later was in my car heading out and I saw a police car across South Lakes and a crowd of people. Now I'm wondering if the men I saw were arrested? One had a dark baseball hat on and was slender, the other was a stockier man...I can't find any info online...

Metz, what you saw correlates with what we saw. We saw a thin guy in handcuffs being escorted by at least two FCPD officers. There was also a stocky man walking with them as well as some other folks who don't live in Brenton Cove. They walked off the trail by the Montessori school onto Brenton Point towards an empty patrol car as the other cars arrived.

You probably saw the stocky guy confining the other man until the officers arrived. I thought I was just being paranoid when I first thought the helicopter was circling looking for someone. Yes very errie.
