CAPE CHARLES, Va. (WVEC/WUSA9) -- Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe toured the tornado-ravaged Cherrystone Campgrounds on the Eastern Shore at 10 a.m. Friday to survey the damage from Thursday's tornado.
The governor met with people who were affected by the storm and thanked first responders.
His first stop was at the Northampton Sheriff's Office and then he toured Cherrystone Family Camping & RV Resort, which remains closed.
Virginia State Police say a New Jersey couple was killed in the tornado after a tree to fall on their tent. The victims have been identified as Lord Balatbat and Lolabeth Ortega, of Jersey City, New Jersey.
