Complete estate plans to include a will, power of attorney and advance medical directive starting at $550 for a single person and $1,100 for husband and wife. I find that by charging a flat rate clients can feel comfortable asking questions and requesting meetings without worrying about being billed by the hour. Under what circumstances would you want to create a trust?

$2000 for the package on avereage. That gets you a living trust, a will, power of attorney document, I forget what else is in there.

The need for a living trust:

To keep your estate out of "probate" in the event of your demise.

Your estate = all of your assests
Your assests = bank accounts, property, 401k, life insurance, the list goes on.
Probate = your estate tied up in court for months or years, inaccessible to your beneficiaries, and the lawyers take a big chunk of it at the end.

At least that's how I understand it.

I think that Legal Zoom is a better option. How much time will I get with an lawyer for $550. Will I get a call back or any follow up meetings? Cheap price = cheap lawyer!

$550 sounds on the high side, cheaper to just down load the forms and get someone to rubber stamp it.
