A 13-year-old girl was fatally injured early Sunday when an alleged drunken driver crashed into her family’s SUV in Lake Ridge.

The wreck happened at 1:41 a.m. at Touchstone Circle and Old Bridge Road.

Police say the driver and only occupant of a 2010 Nissan Sentra ran a red light as he was traveling west on Old Bridge Road and hit a 1998 Ford Explorer turning left from Touchstone Circle onto Old Bridge.

The Nissan driver ran away on foot after the crash.

Two 13-year-olds, a boy and a girl, were unrestrained in the backseat of the Explorer and were both ejected from the SUV, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

The driver, a 46-year-old Woodbridge woman, and front seat passenger, a 19-year-old Woodbridge teen, were also injured.

All were taken to nearby hospitals as police searched for the Nissan’s driver, who was eventually found a short distance away.

“The accused was determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision and was arrested,” Perok said.

Duane Chaldron Brown, 32, of Danville Road in Dale City was charged with manslaughter, felony hit and run, driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license and unreasonable refusal to take a breath test, Perok said.

Once he was in custody, it was discovered Brown was suffering from internal injuries and he, too, was taken to a nearby hospital.

On Monday, the 13-year-old girl in the Explorer died of her injuries, Perok said. She has been identified as Antoinette Peters of Alexandria.

Perok said everyone in the Explorer was related and they were returning home from a trip to the McDonald’s in the Glen shopping center at the time.

Duane Chaldron Brown, 32, of Danville Road in Dale City was charged with manslaughter, felony hit and run, driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license and unreasonable refusal to take a breath test after a fatal crash on Old Bridge Road.

Brown has a long criminal history in Prince William County, including convictions for identity theft, obstruction of justice, reckless driving and possession of cocaine.

Thank you liberal judges for allowing this piece of crap to remain out amoung us so he can continue his lifestyle of hurting others. After he heals up his lawyer will convince the court how this was not his fault do to his upbringing or how was just getting his life together to provide for his kids or some other lie. The reality is he will continue his carnage and ruining others lives, WHEN IN REALITY THE JUSTICE SYSTEM SHOULD HAVE PROTECTED THE VICTIM FROM HIM

Drunk driver is at fault but the girl would have lived if she had her seat belt on. Buckle up, there are idiots all over the road.

Several problems here-

Who really needs to go to McDonald's at 1:30 am? Particularly with two 13-year-olds? Those children should have been in bed.

Who allows people to travel in their car without seatbelts, particularly children?

Does the mentality of the adult in charge of the children and the vehicle factor in here? Yes. Bad choices.

Don't get me going on the drunk driver. He can rot in jail.

What the fuck are they doing going to McDonalds at 1:40 in the god damn morning... Drunk should get a long jail term and the idiot mother who didn't buckle her kids needs to be prosecuted as well.

Just last night, I had to go to McD's (it was the only thing we could find open) to grab a quick bite to eat because we spent the last 10 hours at airports flying with very brief layovers and didn't have enough time to eat dinner. This wasn't exactly my desired choice of meal nor time to land, but its what we had to deal with.

Not saying this is her excuse, just pointing out there are valid reasons.

They could've also been returning home from a brief vacation for the 4th of July weekend and they were driving late to avoid traffic and decided to grab a quick snack? Who knows...

Why do they need an excuse to go out at 1am to McDonalds? Their drive thru is open 24/7, so if they wanted to go out that's their right. The problem I have here is this...

"Duane Chaldron Brown, 32, of Danville Road in Dale City was charged with manslaughter, felony hit and run, driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license and unreasonable refusal to take a breath test after a fatal crash on Old Bridge Road.

Brown has a long criminal history in Prince William County, including convictions for identity theft, obstruction of justice, reckless driving and possession of cocaine."

So why was this guy not in jail? Can the parents of the victim sue the county/state for not having this guy in jail given his extensive criminal history?

13 year olds out at 2 am? Unrestrained? The driver should also be charged.

From reading the posts you would think it's illegal to get Mcdonalds at 2 AM with your kids.

No, but it is illegal to have children under 16 ride in a car without a seat belt.

i've been held in prison merely for stating i wished to have a defense to charges - without even having stated my defense - just for wanting a defense in fx co courts , threatened i was not allowed one for any reason

not just once. every fucking time i'm there they threaten any form of any defense that, of course, would uncover gov worker peices of crap trying to push non-gov workers into a hole.

Looks like a Black Cat crossed her path and 13 was an unlucky number. Weird!
