Va. man arrested for choking woman

DUMFRIES, Va. (WUSA9) -- Prince William County Police Department arrested a man Thursday morning for assaulting and choking a 34-year-old woman in Dumfries, Va.

Police said they responded to a home located in the 16000 block of Chalice Ct. in Dumfries, Va. around 10:36 a.m.

The victim said that she got into an argument with a known acquaintance, which escalated. Police said the victim was assaulted and choked by the suspect.

Police arrested Joseph Alexander Valladares, 21, of Dumfries, Va.

Valladares is being charged with strangulation, domestic assault and battery, and resisting arrest.
