Hey Everyone - I was wondering how much you pay for lawn care around these parts? I've heard lots of different things. I have a 1/4 acre lot in Burke if that helps.

You should be able to get a high school kid in your 'hood to cut you lawn for about $30 - $40 bucks each time they cut your lawn. Depending on what you want, the professional services can charge any where from $75 to $150 or more per month.

Just mowing as needed might run $50 per pop. The fixed costs are the same no matter how small the yard. But you might also want leaf removal in the Fall, and then weed and debris removal, mulching, and possibly aeration or over-seeding in the Spring. It depends how much you want to or feel like you can do by yourself. Figure that out and then talk to some services. There are plenty of them. If there are services working in your neighborhood, ask the neighbors what they have done, what they pay, and how satisfied with the work they are.

I have a slightly larger lawn and I pay $35 per mow. They come once a week. I use Independence Lawn care. They also do fertilizer and spring clean ups where they tend to charge a bit of a premium but they are reliable and they speak English so that helps with communicating.

I have been using the same lawn care company for 5 or 6 years now, Roger's Lawn Maintenance out of Sterling, Va and I am very pleased with them. No one can touch Roger's prices from the research I have done in comparing prices. I have roughly 2 acres of grass on a largely wooded lot and he charges me just under $70 a mow, including weed eating around mulch beds. I utilize his leaf blowing services in the fall, aerating the lawn as needed and mulching from time to time. He is very reliable and shows up when he is scheduled to. I would definitely recommend him.

I pay 40 bucks a week for 1 Acre for my mom's house in McLean. They start in Late March and finish up around Thanksgiving with the leaves. 2 Guys, Commercial mowers, Weed whacking and then blow the grass off the walkway and driveway. Nice Guys, Honest but limited english.

I could have afforded a lawn service for many, many years before I finally got one. I enjoyed the work outdoors. A good sweat is a good thing. Viana Lawn Service. $27 per cut includes edging/weed whacking sidewalk, driveway & mulch beds & blowing driveway & sidewalk. Very reliable - come same day each wk unless rain & then next day. They do many people in our neighborhood & do a good job.

Half an acre inside the beltway for $35 every two weeks. Includes basic clean-up, edging, and mowing. We pay a premium for leaf raking, but that is the worst chore in the world I can think of, so happy to have someone else do it.

The Reputation of the people on this site I am not going to Advertise nor accept any jobs from here. But doing lawncare here in Burke I can tell you how I price the jobs, I base it on how long I think its going to take me to mow the yard, Arrival to departure. so 30 minutes $30.00 I am on the lower spectrum but I am a Legal, I just mow on the side of my regular Job. unless you make 10k a year you do not need business license, I have enough write offs to claim my income, I do a schedule C since as I earlier stated I am doing this part time. my yards range $25.00 - $37.50. Aeration I charge $35.00 de-thatching $35.00 I don't fertilize or seed (you need to be certified). I carry Insurance and for most its around $400 a year (small owner operator). Leaf removal I charge an hourly rate per person $35.00 an hour, 1 hour 2 people $70 etc. Most larger companies you can expect $45 and up, I have Priced steves mowing for a customer who's yard was dangerous with my equipment and I was at about the same rate, but that was 3 or 4 years ago. Keep an eye out in your neighborhood and see who works in there and call them, you might get a better rate if they mow your neighbors vs someone who comes from further away.
