I wanna join the Fairfax fire/rescue as a volunteer.

I live in the Lorton area and want to volunteer for the station near my house. I emailed the captain but got no response. Just wanted to know what the requirements are and how long the process takes?

Lorton doesn't have anymore volunteers, you'll have to go somewhere else if you want to stay in Fairfax, like Springfield.

Do you have the warrior spirit? Do you have the eye of the tiger? Can you run towards a fire while everyone else is running away (the next time someone says that without irony, I'll put a mattox into their head)?

Can you handle never working on a fire and doing 99% EMS calls?

Can you properly accessorize your tactical belt?

Can you apologize to the Firefighters Union for having the temerity to exist?

Are you a hot redhead (woman)?

they aren't volunteers. overpaid you can argue. likely if you aren't family answer is NO.

they will sell you classes at NVCC promising success and employability - it'll take you years of non-working time and allot of money. but at employment time you'll find their sales slogans are non-refundable.

You'll need good bj skills and huge schlong that stays hard for at least 20 min a session will little recharge time.

They probably did a good search for you and saw you weren't hot enough for them.

First, if you are a guy, the career staff will pick on you until you leave the department. Nothing is sacred for them, so either suck it up or leave. When you leave that means less competition for the paid staff to worry about when it comes to females.

If you are a woman/girl, then they will not pick on you, they will only hit on you relentlessly with subtle hints of getting you kicked out of the department if you don't go upstairs and go down on them. Of course some do this willingly, so it's a matter of not stopping once you start. You get issued your own knee pads and Chapstick after a short probation period.

I got certified at NVCC (EMT-B) and I don't remember any promises of success of employability. You are competing for a skill that requires one or a handful of courses at community college, which virtually anyone can do.

Though it does help to have a family member already on the job to grease the skids for you.

That goes for all fire departments, they take care of family first.
