Anyone have a recommendation for an arborist? Our signature oak tree in our front yard ain't looking hot and it'd be a shame to lose it - we've been told it dates back to well before the Civil War.

They are not cheap, but they are very professional---have all the knowledge, equipment, and so on. You do have to wait a bit because they have plenty of business. But it's worth it. Don't use a yahoo.

If you haven't cut it down, get a Consulting Arborist to take a look at the trees. They don't sell services such as removal or trimming. Probably $150 to tell you if the tree needs to come down or just needs treatment (fertilizer, fungicide, ect).
