You're wrong Spiro. They do have some seriously fucked up priorities though.
Most of Fairfax's problems stem from two factors: The first was the decision to convert what was largely a middle class bedroom community into a more intensively developed commercial center. The second was having surrounding low cost jurisdictions become much more expensive. One byproduct of the first was a huge upsurge in the demand for low cost workers. Since they could no longer afford to live in surrounding jurisdictions, we had to put them up here. Because of our bedroom community legacy we didn't have the kinds of housing, etc. for these workers, so the County dealt with them by a combination of expanding social programs and by allowing the de-facto rezoning of many neighborhoods, especially in the eastern part of the county and along the Route 1 corridor. Of course none of this was presented to the County voters, because if it had they would have rejected the idea.
