Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
This is what you get when you want to be cheap about childcare.
Not that kindercare, childtime, etc are THAT much better- they hire the same young people for no more than $8 to watch your kids in a corporate setting with better insurance....
...still better than her house- look at that backyard! I wouldn't bring my kids to play in that dirty mess- if she can't keep her yard clean- imagine the inside of the house.....
Well- childcare is expensive anyway (what, $250 a week for a 2 year old at kindercare last time i looked) - 250 a week for a 45 hour week is only 5.55 an hour- no wonder they can't keep people to work in childcare it doesn't pay like teaching does...
oh well- the only solution i see is to be a stay at home parent or have a trusted relative or friend and pay them directly....
There's more to this story. Per WTOP there were additional children inside (over the limit) as to the number the owner is licensed to watch. When police got there, they saw enough where they called child protective services and the parents of all these kids to come pick them up.

This was probably the babysitter for the "walmart" workers and it was all they could afford. I totally understand that. Not everyone can afford $250/week- heck if you're only making $8 an hour at walmart anyway- that is almost your whole check after taxes JUST to go to work- but that is another rant for another day (yes I know there is child care assistance in fairfax county- but there's waiting lists!)
If you are already financially secure, paying kindercare is nothing, but when you only have a part-time job or low-wage job....the struggle is real.

They have no choice, all the voters are going to go Republican next time and their "Free Ride" is over.

What? Really? They were over the limit too? Shocking! Just shocking I tell you.
