local gyms near the Skyline Area (Gold's, Bally's, S&H, etc)

Winter time is coming soon.. so I plan on joining a gym within the week. It looks like the closest in my area are Gold's, Bally's, and S&H. S&H seems to be the nicest, but it's also very $expensive$. Gold's and Bally's are right around my price range. Anyone have any experience with either of the two? I'll either be going to Gold's Gym near Bailey's, or Bally's off Little River Turnpike.

Thanks.

You can buy lifetime memberships from current club members on EBAY. The only problem with it is that you can't resell it again - which may not be a concern for you. I bought my wife one a couple of years ago for $400 and there's a $15 or so monthly fee.

The difference in the prices is driven by the monthly fee accompanying the membership. For instance, when I bought my membership many years ago, I had the wording in my contract saying my fee would never increase - thus I pay an annual fee of $25.

I joined Bally's years ago because of the number of clubs around the world. I currently (when I'm motivated) go to the Landmark club although it's not the closest to me. I like the racquetball courts.

Thanks for the input. I'll probably end up at Bally's because of the racquetball court. Also my job has a special program which will allow me to join Bally's at a reduced price. I'll compare that to what I see on ebay and go from there.

Thanks again.

Will do... as long as you don't care how bad I play. It's been a couple of years, and even then I was just okay. Great workout though.
