There should be term limits, not pay increases, esp. considering their bosses don't approve of the job they're doing.

Term limits are the only hope to break partisan gridlock,,,

Considering he and his cohorts have something like a 10% approval rating among the American public (who technically are their boss), I'd say they are grossly overpaid and probably should all be fired.

Moran is right. Congressmen/women work on average about 70 hours per week, and even when they're "off work" they don't get much time to rest or spend with their families.

But I'd extend the pay increase to Congressional staff, who are also pushed hard -- 53 hours per week on average according to a recent survey.

I don't want unmotivated, underpaid people either making our laws or doing the staff work behind that.

Well....

$174k is a darn good salary even for the DC high roller lifestyle. But remember most of these people come from money and get a lot of perks which makes their income go even farther. And their spouses are usually well-heeled.

I don't want people who think this is a career opportunity; go do your service for your country and then get out of the way for some new people.

I love the argument that we need "experienced" politicians to pilot this oh so complicated system.

It's complicated so outside interests can take advantage of it by lobbying these "underpaid" parasites.

I guarantee if an all new congress was elected they would look at the budget and say "Why the hell are we spending so much money in all these countries I"VE NEVER HEARD OF?"

there is still a (Kentucky?) true state rep. who refuses retirement pay and says it should be illegal, since the reg. pay and ret. pay are so high

Even worse is we are surrounded by folks who vote for Moran time and time again. Glad he is retiring but the district will simply replace him with a clone.

Who is the most liberal out of Don Beyer, Adam Ebbin, Patrick Hope, Charniele Herring, Lavern Chatman, and Mark Levine? That is your next winner in Moran's district.
