On March 22, 2010, Shane Donahue, 23, left his parents house on Aden Road in Nokesville and hasn’t been heard from again. Now, four years later, police are once again asking for any information about what happened to him.
His family says it’s clear he met with foul play.
Donahue’s two cell phones went dead within 10 minutes of leaving his parents’ house about 3:45 p.m. that day, according to police.
Donahue, known as “Bubba” to friends and family, had just been paid for a construction job a few days before he vanished. In four years, there has been no activity on his phones or any bank accounts, no calls to family members and no "hits" on the National Crime Information Center.
The last person seen with Donahue -- Timothy Sean Hickerson – has been described by police as a person of interest in the case. Hickerson, 32, is finishing up a four-year stint in federal prison for breaking into two area gun stores and stealing firearms from one in the months after Donahue's disappearance. He is set to be released next month, and has never been charged in connection with Donahue’s disappearance.
According to detectives, Donahue did odd jobs for a living, and was quite possibly a "low-level" drug dealer in the Nokesville area. But he’d never been in serious trouble with the law. His criminal record shows traffic offenses and two convictions for marijuana possession.
Last April, police searched the house along Aden Road Donahue was renting when he vanished, and drained a septic tank on the property. The search turned up nothing.
The family is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to Shane's whereabouts, and Prince William County Crime Solvers will pay a $1,000 cash reward.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700.
