Arthur Treacher's Farifax

Was driving down 29 to Home De Pot yesterday when I noticed the latest eye sore - a sign in front of the Arthur Treacher's in Fairfax Circle saying "YES! We're Open." Looking into it from my car, it looks like one of the dingiest and most poorly kept restaurants I have ever seen.

Has anybody ever actually gone into that $hithole?

Its like the AT on Richmond Hwy, run by Korean's. Sure doesn't look good but the fish was fine and the grease tasted clean, it was above acceptable.

It is probably one of the cleanest around. Seriously, the floors are always kept cleaned, the tables are always wiped down, you dont see any trash at all. Mcdonalds are in much worse condition than Arthur's. They cook your food to order, so nothing has been sitting for hours under the hot plate. I have never seen a bug or roach in all my years stopping in there and I would think with the construction going on, that anything with legs and wings would take shelter there, but nope, no bugs at all. The owner of the place, is the one that is there taking your order and dishing the plates 95% of the time, he has maybe three other employee's.

I would fear the more popular places much more than here.

OK then. I wonder though how many people are being frightened off by the physical appearance that is pretty shabby.

At least, apparently, looks can be deceiving.

All of us here in Fairfax have already been there. Quit worrying about it and just go there.

My wife and I live in Vienna and go there every 3 or 4 months. Food is always freshly made to order, prices are reasonable and the place is definitely clean. Recommended when you just want some fried fish and chips, nothing fancy but tastes very good.

Arthur Treachers is at Fairfax Circle. The poster said he lived in Vienna, not that AT was in Vienna.

You may be thinking of the place in Vienna that was the original Anita's. It has changed over several times since Anita's closed. It is currently called "La Maleguena" or something like that. I have NEVER seen anyone in there, it is a mystery how they can stay in business.

One of its incarnations was "Barnaby's", an offshoot of some sandwich place in Maryland. They had great food, but not enough traffic to stay in business.

Same could be said of La Malaguena. Never see anyone in it.

To me, it looks like it should be a donut shop.

I think that place was originally like a dairy queen or something like that.
