general court to circuit court for simple posession

So I had my court date today at Dec.10, The court were opened today and my case was at 9:30. My lawyer called and told me he couldnt make it because of the snow, He said in a case where if they dont continue it because of the snow and find me "guilty" they lawyer said he will represent me in circuit court. I wanted to know how circuits would handle these cases. This is for a simple marijuna posession and i have already completed 25 hours of community service and finished drug counseling. Is taking it to circuit court in my favor or not?
