Sometimes I used to go out to Rte. 15 South of Leesburg, as you have fewer lights out there, and some great hills to watch from atop. Lately I've just viewed the Meteors from my deck (I set up a NV Camera one year on a tripod mount with my telescope, and I caught some really amazing fireballs).
BTW, Rte. 15 is where I saw the Northern Lights one time. I heard about a Geo-Magnetic storm, and so I drove out there. Sure enough, at about the time I was giving up, I saw a glittering curtain of light that started shimmering in the sky (It was a very vivid blue). It lasted for about 10 seconds or less, but it was tight.
