massey building: leaky etc

"And what may wind up as Rohrer’s true legacy is a replacement for the Massey Building, the asbestos-filled, leak riddled, HVAC-challenged headquarters of the police and fire departments."

well the roof don't leak if you patch it. anyone knows that's a small roof and it's not mission impossible to repair a roof.

problem is bad maintenance team. let the thing leak for years on end, continually billing for fixing that was no fix. now they say "hey lets us build you a new building - only cost an arm and a leg"

i worked in a building that had bad leaks. i had to stand ON 3 phase wire while in a pool of water (with the wire) or be fired. managers continually paid to have that roof "fixed". always leaking. my but i was on that roof: they never fixed it.

recently a car dealer in manassas had a roof fall in.

i guess the moral of the story is: the best way to destroy something is to fix it improperly

Those 3 phase wires can do brain damage. I thought it was only a myth.

I heard the chiller broke down recently. I believe chillers last a long time if you do the regular maintenance. Perhaps it wasn't being done here

Yeah, nothing to do with current. It all depends which phase it is.

I heard it was when the phases cross each other.

I still donut understand why the county can't just buy an existing empty office building out Dulles/Chantilly way instead of squeezing in a new building by the Taj Mahal and creating a parking and traffic nightmare. In addition, having the legal authorities monitoring the activies of county employees in the neighboring buildings
