My daughter said there is a certain female staff member at Lake Braddock that hasn't been in the building recently due to an investigation of some imappropriate involvement with a female student. Students are apparently starting to talk about it. Anyone know what is up and who this is?

Yes, apparently its true. The "certain female staff member" has been involved with the female student for several months (rumored). They were apparently caught when some photos turned up of them together off campus in a "suggestive" manner. Because the female student is underage, the female staff member was put on leave (not sure if it is paid leave) and will probably not be returning next year. Everything has been really quiet about it, but rumors are flying. I am not sure how the relationship started or when. Does anyone know?

Well to be fair, wouldn’t you want to know more after your daughter told you that someone from your school was seeing a School Staffer on the side?

From a pure gossip perspective perhaps, but I would not act like a teenager and ruin someone's career by encouraging others to smear their name on the internet when I had no absolute proof they did anything.

From a concern perspective no, not at all. In fact, I know a teacher and student from back in my highschool days who got married and they seem very happy together.

I appreciate that you did that for your kids, but you’ve really done them an injustice and here’s why:

1. I applaud you for taking your kids out of public schools. I did the same.
2. You’re not a teacher (unless you have a degree in it), so you’re not going to relate topics to your kids. Often times most moms that homeschool don’t have the self-discipline or the demeanor to teach their kids. (You’re a mom not a teacher).
3. You’re cheating your children out of learning how to establish relationships with others. Whether those relationships are personal, professional, etc.

Now for us, we took our kids out of public school due to gang activity (the school system allowed gang members back into the schools), and resulted in my son having to protect his bio teacher from a gang member (MS-13) from killing her. So no more of that. We couldn’t afford most of the private schools around here, so we looked around and found a few that were affordable and in our price range. (I recommend googling them). It might be a bit of a drive,
But believe me it was worth it. Both graduated from Private School last year (one on time, and the younger one graduated a year ahead).

Thanks for the detailed response. All these issues have come up with us over the years. (Except for the MS-13 business, of course.)

I happen to be the third generation of my family to have been homeschooled.

My kids are the fourth.

I overstated things when I said this was the "exact reason" that we homeschool. In fact, if any of my children grow up gay or lesbian, I will have absolutely no problem with it.

I have met many public school teachers, and most are very fine people. I kind of doubt that the relationship being discussed in this thread is quite what is being posited here in any case.

My overriding objection to public schools is their raison d'être, which is to produce conformist cogs in a corrupt political and economic system.
