Fairfax City Schools Mourn Loss of Former Superintendent
Funeral services for Robert Cecil Russell will be held Friday at 11 a.m

Robert Cecil Russell, a former superintendent for the City of Fairfax School system, passed away on June 2.

Mr. Russell, 83, served as superintendent for the City of Fairfax School system from 1983 through 1995, according to the school system's website.

“Bob’s passing is a great loss for the Fairfax City community,” read a statement by Dr. Peter Noonan, superintendent of the City of Fairfax Schools. “Bob was a dedicated servant to the Fairfax City students and he will be missed.”

Mr. Russell was also principal at Fairfax High and Robinson Secondary Schools, according to his obituary on the Everly Memorial Funeral Home website.

He was a Fairfax City resident for over 40 years and a a life-long musician.

Bob was a genuinely great guy and there are so many of us that will miss him. There's a facebook site set up that has been very popular to remember him.

One thing, the funeral was last week, on Friday. Nothing scheduled for this Friday.
